am I using the wrong kind of yarn?

am I knitting to tight, or what?

13  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / my first 'non fun' socks.. on: July 06, 2007 06:13:53 PM
I made these socks for the worlds best MIL!

also showcases not only my ugly feet, but the worlds sweetest most needy dog

Putty Bean

he says
'see, Im needy, but sweet'

I made my hubby a 'fun' pair of socks, but when I decided to make these for my MIL I had to start over like a million times because I wanted them to look just 'perfect' for her. I have since decided that I can not make 2 'perfect' anythings.

Im so glad this is finished!

MODS, please please move this to crochet part of the board.....PLEASE!

15  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / :'( I was so sad, frustrated, and disappointed I couldnt make a shawl, updated! on: June 11, 2007 04:13:05 PM
hello, my fellow craftsters (if I am allowed to even call myself that)

I have tried for 2 weeks (no lie) to make my wonderful MIL a shawl. She suffers from MS, and is just the most tiny and sweetest thing......she is disappointed about us not being able to come visit her, and I want to make her something to let her know how much I love her.......

I am crying over how stupid I feel I am.

I have gone everywhere all the links and everything to try & get her a shawl made.......and I simply can not do it.........

I have tried a pattern from all the places that Ive looked at, and I can not I tell you can not make the patterns work. I mess them up so badly........why? because I cant read the stupid patterns.....

how did yall learn to make shawls when you started out?

I have no one to show me here where I live (as I taught myself to crochet and Im not the best of teachers you see...lol)

I dont know if this needs to be in S&B but Im begging yall, please help me......

how do I make just a simple shawl? Plain english no fancy things no having to decode anything? Is it possible?

thanks yall.
16  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / patterns only threads? *sorry if its been asked b4* on: June 01, 2007 11:30:44 AM
I have looked, and  I may have missed them....

I was wondering if we have a section here that lists patterns only? Nothing else?

I crochet & I am always looking thru countless posts to try & find new patterns, and I thought (today) if we had that kind of section I'd have some of my time cut in half...LOL

thanks for your patience in explaining it to me.

for your kindness I present you with this giggle...

19  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / singer machine troubles. HELP PLEASE???!!!! on: May 18, 2007 04:42:01 PM
Mods, you can move this/delete this if Im not right in putting it here.......Im at the end of my rope!

I have done countless searches, and can not find what is wrong with this machine.

I inherited this from my Mother (she passed away in 2005). I have had it mostly sitting in my storage closet because just touching it was too painful. I missed her so much.

I would love to use this machine now, but I have this problem. I have threat that looks like this 0-0-0- one flat stitch and one 'balled' up one. (small). It wont even stitch together.

I have looked up to find out about a book and oh my gosh! Its so expensive!

it is a Singer 132q featherweight (I believe) If you have one, please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where can I go to find help?

I am so sorry to bother!
20  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / eating yarn....oh no.....the other end. Stupid cat. on: May 17, 2007 01:25:30 PM
I am always doing animal rescues, and we currently have 2 extra animals in here (2 little dogs attacked by a vicious dog)......

well, one of my 2 MY animals (I have 2 cats) have decided that its a great idea to 'p' on not only all my yarn stash, but she also 'got' my bag, my hooks, my looms, and my pin cushions. I mean it was like a puddle......is that all she did while I was at work?

GGRRRRR cats are so mean sometimes!
