2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / petticoat skirt on: March 01, 2009 09:44:01 PM
made from a long tiered skirt from the value village:

it's really fluffy and great for spinning around in... and since the sewing machine kept jamming and because i'm lazy, it's a wrap skirt!!!!  it was sooooo easy, and quick too-- maybe half an hour to start to finish?

thanks for looking Smiley
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / dress from genie/hammer pants on: November 07, 2008 08:36:13 AM
yeah, so i happened to have a pair of golden genie/hammer pants that i bought at savers and once used as a matador costume.  and they're a dress now!!!  it's all finished except i need to hem the top (it's pinned in the pic.)  I keep trying but the fabric is so stretchy and it either bunches up or gets all lettucy on me.  Any tips/good stitches to use?  Should i just hand-sew it?  i tried zigzag and a loose straight stitch.  this is my first piece of clothing, so i don't really know what i'm doing...  anyway, here are the pics:

it's got a bubble skirt Wink and the straps are made from a sleeve of the matching sequinned jacket

and when i twist the inside of the bubble skirt, it looks sorta cool/drapey:

i wish i had taken a before pic, but the pants looked like this, with the crotch at my knees (they were HUGE, but the tag said women small...)

if anyone has some genie pants and wants a little tutorial, i'd be happy to make one, it was really simple... like, sew 2 lines simple.

P.S.  IT'S SNOWING!!! YAAAAY! Grin
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / lots of earrings!! on: August 08, 2008 05:50:25 PM
hi!  here are some earrings I made recently, after buying my first pack of earring hooks!  woo hoo!

bells, clips, circles cut from an old Paste DVD with the plastic layer pulled off:

legos!  windows, shutters, and square pieces:

button earrings- the third ones are stop light themed!

Clocksworth, Lumiere, Mrs. Pots, and Chip!  I got these from an old charm bracelet:

Post earrings made from those buttons with the loop jutting from the back- I cut of the loops and glued on old earrings:

Finally, my favorites!  Tacks!  People tend to freak out when they see me wearing these but don't worry, I didn't actually stick the tack through my ear- I cut the metal part off with pliers and glued posts on.

Ya know those little fake-diamond earrings that come on the post?  where the rock is held to the post with the little metal fingers?  I found that if you bend the fingers back with pliers so that they're flat and the diamond comes out (think of the dead spiders in garfield), you're left with a great earring post that you can glue things to!  I don't know if that made sense, so tell me if it didn't Roll Eyes
Anyway, thanks for looking!  have a good day!
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / checkered hat on: June 11, 2008 12:28:42 PM
Yay!  first project of summer break!  pardon my morphed face...:

I know it looks knitted but it's really tunisian crocheted, using the knit stitch.  The brown edging is single crocheted.  I kind of want to put a brown pompom on top, either hanging or sewn directly to the top.  Opinions?  I suspect that I have a pompom obsession...  Cheesy  The hat is about 1 cm thick so it'll be perfect for winter!  I only have to wait around 6 months!  yippee!!  Also, is there a name for the checkered pattern?  Thanks Kiss
6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Odysseus postcards on: April 19, 2008 01:36:21 PM
I made these postcards for English class after reading the Odyssey... or a 50 page version of it (I HATE my teacher!)  Fortunately, I've read the real version too, so I don't feel too guilty about reading the hacked-apart one.  Well anyway... I made these out of scraps of paper, a hong-bow (chinese new year money envelope thing), a paper towel, magazine/newspaper clippings, a gold colored cardboard box, a candy wrapper...  I think that's it Wink  My favorite is "Helio's Cattle," but I am not happy with the cyclopes.  It's looking a bit blah.  And is the soldier too far away from his hand?  Maybe I should move it.  Any suggestions are appreciated.  And I know these aren't anything super special, I just wanted to share Smiley  THanks for looking Kiss

7  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / eiffel tower hat in my dream on: February 18, 2008 12:05:59 PM
Last night I had a dream that I was in a big crowd outside someplace, where I saw a lacyish crocheted skull cap.  It had a little pompom on top and there were (maybe 6?) little eiffel towers in "windows" around the sides.  They were sort of like pineapples, but eiffel tower shaped!  I think it had a bit of ribbing on the bottom, too.  And it was seafoam green, but that doesn't matter Roll Eyes

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has seen an eiffel tower project of any sort?  Even knitted? Or maybe you've even heard of an eiffel tower hat? Grin  Or maybe you were just waiting for a challenging project to design? hehe
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / punk bunny- which eyes look less scary?! on: October 19, 2007 10:50:50 AM
I'm making the Punk Bunny in the book Amigurumi! Super Happy Crochet Cute by Elisabeth Doherty.  Just to give you an idea of what it's SUPPOSED to look like, puchitomato made one here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=198451.0

Anyway, I went to Michael's and they didn't have the right eyes!  So which of these two sets of eyes look better (less creepy)?

Human eyes:

or flat black buttons:

or one of each (LOL! this one's just for comparison purposes):

I'm leaning toward the black ones... please help Cry

9  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / tunisian crochet in the round? on: July 21, 2007 06:11:56 PM
Does anyone know how to tunisian crochet in a spiral or in joined rounds?  Would I need circular crochet needles for this Huh I've seen those tunisian crochet coasters, but those are actually sewn together at the end.  I really want to make knit looking crocheted hats because however hard I try, I can't knit  Roll Eyes  The first hat at this link is an example of what I want to make: http://www.leapingyarns.com.sg/gallery_tcscarf.htm  And at another page in there website, http://www.leapingyarns.com.sg/workshop.htm , near the bottom it says you can make a "seamless bag."  Any help would be wonderful Kiss
10  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / 3 Hats! Image heavy!!! now with links to patterns!! on: July 15, 2007 12:27:12 PM
I've been making winter hats this summer!  Im sad that I can't use them for a few months, but I'm too busy during the winter to make anything anway Roll Eyes

EDIT:  I've added the patterns I used in case anyone wants them...

This has to be my favorite hat EVER!  It's not really bright orange like those hunter clothes.  It's a bit duller and pinkier.

<< hehe sorry for the creepiness, but my real face looked even creepier  Cheesy

^PATTERN: http://www.crochetgarden.com/raingarden/winterhat.html
I slightly modified it because I didn't want the brim.

This one is sort of boring, I had a little bit of yarn I wanted to use up.

^PATTERN: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=166445.10

Okay.  For this one I need your real opinion.  I promise I won't feel bad Wink  Is it ugly?  My family thinks is is, but I sort of like it  Undecided  If it's too ugly to give away, I'd keep it  Grin  It's tunisian crocheted.

I must say that this is the most genius pattern I have ever followed Grin
