i agree that you should put a button or bead in the middles.  you could even make some with two layers (like a smaller flower inside a bigger one).  this website has directions for pointy petals if you want more variety: http://gabriellepollacco.blogspot.com/2009/11/kanzashi-bloom-tutorial-fun-handmade.html  as for the greenery question, maybe you could make some "branches" out of thick wire and red glass beads?  i love the fabric you used, and i think it would look nice to add more red to it.

i like the soap suggestion, and the cupcake topper one.  you could also make key chains.  you can melt holes in them by heating up a paperclip (i use a candle) and poking it through.
