i'm looking to sell some of my crafts to suckers.. err.. people whom will buy it, and i'm trying to figure out what to sell.
some things i've been comissioned to do in the past were bags (both knitted amulet and sewn messenger types) some clothes, doll stuff (when i was younger) and just a few days ago, i sold severly underpriced (for a reason: it was my boss for goodness sakes, I NEED HOURS!) baby blankets.
i'm a fairly good seemstress, and when my machine and work scedule cooperate, i have very good turn around.
i guess what i am asking, is should i set up a comission (within reason) type buisness, or make read to ship items? and what items should i sell, or rather, what things that even you crafty people would consider buying?
after much deliberation on buying versus, makign a swimsuit this year, i decided to make one because all i was finding in stores in my price range, were similar to this:
i looked up and down LLBean, Land's End Newport News, (the point is i looked all over the place for ideas) and ran into something i had only previously seen for kids, but was delighted instantly to find this was my ideal swim suit.
do you guys think i'd be a total geek if i wore this on the beach? (bear in mind i'm on the chubby side, and don't have such a wonderfully flat stomahc as olsen twin-thin as this girl)
so yeah, i meant to post this when i finished it, but i was lazy. I spent my entire spring break doing nothign i wanted, and making this bag. it turned out better than i thought during, but not how i expected. i'm too lazy to go back and put a lining it in (since that is what was giving me all the trouble)
it'sa messenger bag i loosely based upon everything i've ever seen here at craftster, and made from some random green upholstryish fabric i found in mom's and mine collection with some scwheet funky arrow corderoy i picked up months ago for a skirt (which, i think i actually have enough to make both). oh yeah, and a bunch of kiss-ass punky-chunky zippers i picked up 10 for a buck at the LFS.
yes, i sewed with blue thread on purpose.
the main zipper: the outside: under flap: side/gusset: inside:
please ignore the mess both inside my bag and in my room. i'm a college student who doesn't know what "cleaning" means
sheesh. what's with these pcitures? they are terrible!! (sorry!)
this is the only one that turned out decent. i had five shirts, all sized L or ZL, whose destiny i swear, was to fit my S/M body. so i butchered one, hated how it turned out, decided to wait on the others, but fooled aorund with a rummage sale find. it was a turtlneck, i hate turtle necks. so i removed it :-D i think i'm going to add a pockek or something on the sleeve. more piccies to come!!
again, i apolgoize for the spots, i'm not relaly good at this whole "take-apic-of-myself-in-a-mirror" thing yet.
uhg... i hated wearing dresses for easter.... this thing looked absolutely horrible on me too. iit was too short and baggy in all the wrong areas for my taste, and i've always wanted to hack it off into a skirt. after a little bit of reconstructed T-shirts this morning with little sucess (more on this later) i decided it was to to hack that beast up.
i started with this
here's a close up of the fabric. it's soft, kinda shiny, i guess it's satin or something. it's natsy to work with. ravel ravel makes me gravel gravel
anyway, here's what i ended up with
please ignore the spots. i promise to clean my mirror tomorrow. (in case you can't tell, since i'm weairng jeans, it hits me right on the knee when i wear it at my hips) what do you all think?
