1  EUROPE / NETHERLANDS / Amsterdam meet-up? on: December 13, 2011 07:14:28 AM
Hello everyone!

I just moved to Amsterdam with my husband, and I'm so excited to be here! I already feel the crafty vibe of the city, everywhere I go I see handmade stuff and I love it!

What do you say we arrange a little crafty meet-up, so we can get to meet each other and exchange ideas? I'm still free practically every day, all day long, since I'm currently looking for a job, so I'll leave the dates up to you! What do you think?

I would love to meet you all!  Grin

nfirehazzard I'm afraid I can't write any pattern, since I found it on a magazine.... But I did write some general guidelines above, if you don't understand something tell me so and I'll try to write some more details! It's very easy though, all you need is patience!! When I got to the second circle, it was like I had ripped the first circle apart and done all over again!! I hated it!!!

kiewiet I'm so glad you got it!! If you decide you're going to make it, please post some photos! I'd love to see how it turns out!

Oh! Thank you very much for your comments!

kiewiet I really don't remember the name of the magazine, it was afrench one I found on the internet and downloaded it.... Embarrassed Embarrassed  I'll try to find it and I'll let you know. It only had a chart though, and it was pretty easy to figure out. You just start off with a normal circle, and then you start adding some holes!! When you decide it's long enough, you stop the circle where you want the sleeve to be, and you go back... Did that make any sense?Huh?

Heeeey Ruby!!! How are you?? You should really try it! I think I'm going to make one with some leftover lace fabric that I have.

I'm so glad you like it!

Any ideas on how to improve it? I was thinking of changing the cord, but I can't think of anything else!

Well, I really wanted to wear it today to go somewhere, so I wore it to go to work!! I put it like a vest, with a long shirt underneath. I like it much better this way, so you don't have to be small to wear it!!

Hey guys! I finally decided to pick up a project I started last year. Since I was pretty bigger last summer, I decided not to finish it, but this year, I'm feeling pretty good!! It's very easy actually, it's just two circles! I picked it up from a french magazine, I really don't remember what it's called... So, here go the photos!

First up the "I'm too cool to take a photo of myself" picture!

It's just a general one, so no comments here!

Next up, the side:

So IT IS just a circle!!! You can tell I'm trying to squeeze it all in, can't you?...

The back:

Please excuse everything that's wrong in this pic, my bra, the crazy strings coming all over my butt... Believe me, it was the "normal" one out of all the stock...

The front:

It deserves no comments....

And finally, the I-don't-have-to-worry-about-it-anymore/happy-dance photo!!

Please please comment you guys!! It's really important to tell me what you think!!

Thanks for looking!

Thank you very much for the comments! The  blue dress is also my favorite. Ive wore it so much, it now has an unknown stain on it that wont go, no matter how many times I wash it! Sometimes I feel Im still 5 years old... Undecided

As for the white one, I really like it as well, but I havent had the courage to wear it outside still! So, I always talk to my friends about this GREAT white dress I made, but I think by now they dont believe I actually made it!

Ninjanator, thanks for the advice on the cleavage! The problem is, its very loose on both sides of the triangles. I tried to gather it on the outer sides (next to the armpits), and it got a little better, but its still a little loose. What did I do wrong?? Huh

Hi guys! Im not very good on commenting my own photos, so here goes: Ive made several things since last year that I bought my own little Singer Barbie machine (it has butterflies on it!!!), but I was so bored of taking photos... So now that I have a new camera, I decided to go for it!!

First up, a dress made from an IKEA curtain (you can actually see the other half on the back!) Its a pretty simple dress, but I need to work on my sewing skills regarding cleavage....

I dont know if you tell, but the fabric has this beautiful design. Its like vertical threads... whatever....

This is from a Burda magazine. I got the fabric for 1 euro/meter!!

It wraps around, and I love the neck!!

Next item, another curtain dress, and another Burda pattern. This time, the curtain is from the '70s or something, I got it from a second-hand shop

Very "professional"!!

I really love the color in this one! Again, Burda pattern, at least thats how it begun, but it ended up completely diferent!

I feel like a dancer in it!!

Lastly, YET another dress! Or at least something like it... This is one of the very first I made, so I just begun by sewing two rectangles together... From then on, it was cutting time!! I think I exaggerated a little bit on the cutting part!!

Please comment you guys, it means a lot!! I could really use some help, because Im still figuring out which clothes fit me better and which not, so any comment would be really hepful! Thanks  Grin

Sorry for the spelling errors, I hope it all makes sense....

I love the dress!!! Just the other day I was looking at a dress made the same way at a store, and I STILL say I might try it one day! Great job!
