531  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Re: In today's dyeing news....... dyeing blue roving with cabbage...... on: April 17, 2007 04:22:05 PM
Hey....red cabbage. Once I fed it to my chickens and they then passed bright turquoise green poo. Scary. I guess it's because it's an indicator.

They're beautiful rich colours!

The blue one is beautiful. How did you get two colours? Did you tye die or something?

I need to get the other photos somehow.....
My brother seems to think every photo seems to be fantastic! He's like "that one's bad cause it's framed wrongly. Bad pose. The ears are blurry."
Why? I'm not a photographer, I'm a crafty person!
535  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / A man and his horse :D on: April 16, 2007 04:26:39 AM

Unfortunately my brother has command of the camera!
I made a cute horse - I do proportionate plushies see. And the horse is about 30cm high at the shoulder Cheesy very cuddly.
They didn't seem to have any wool felt so I had to choose between 100% acrylic and 100% viscose. I chose viscose. Baaaaad choice - it tore so easily!
But the horse was finished. I did a photoshoot of him in the garden with Grantley (that's the guy) but my brother said the photos were too terrible so he stuck the good ones in a layout. So you can't see all of the horse...but isn't he cute?

EDIT:
Nabbed the photos while my brother wasn't looking! Here's a little more of the horse:

Compulsory "artsy" black and white shot:

Silly ladder shot:

And me with the horse and Grant:

There.
536  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Pokemon Dress! on: April 16, 2007 04:05:22 AM
Oh that's so great! Fantastic!

I'd love to make myself a dress as I have a small bust and it's really hard to find ones that fit - but I'm not sure something like that would stay up on me Sad
537  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Re: My first stenciled Tshirts on: April 16, 2007 04:00:25 AM
Good stencil but I loathe Panic at the Disco. Oh well...Cheesy
That's the thing that I don't like about shirts - having a square design. It's very hard to avoid, isn't it?
You did a great job!

What IS freezer paper? We have greaseproof paper over here, and waxed paper, and baking paper but nothing called FREEZER paper!
So I'm really confused!

Yeah, I know what you mean about the bandshirt. Only bandshirt I have is a Feeder one - I wasn't going to pay 17 pounds for one that was pink anyway (Hate pink) so I stencilled one myself!
I need to get photos....
539  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / Re: where to buy blank tees on: April 15, 2007 05:31:20 AM
I do like stencilling but I think I was lucky cause I turned up at a sale time.
I got a $4 singlet from Tightrope - worked a treat!
However often it's a bit hard to get a shirt that isn't ultra singletty cause I don't have big boobs Cheesy Yeah, I'd try cotton on... I don't know where in Australia you are but in Canberra there are way too many shops for the population, so there are a lot of girly stores selling cheap t shirts and singlets.
540  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / Re: Anyone from Canberra? on: April 15, 2007 05:27:42 AM
I'm from North Canberra!
Actually, I'm mainly a regular artist - I'm not so clued in with textiles because often it has to be perfect and I'm not perfect so that frustrated me. But I'm determined, and it's fun!
I like making stencils, and I also like making soft toys. I'd like to do a reconstruction some time or something as ideas are always pinging off me but I'm not that good at machine sewing - so easy to make a mistake!
I'm looking for some wool felt. Do you know where you can get it? At Lincraft they seem to only have pooey synthetic felt!

My next door neighbour is a felter - she sells her stuff...I think some of that rubbed off on me Cheesy
