23  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Leafy Lace Edging Scarf (x2) on: January 06, 2010 07:43:27 PM
This pattern was published by the Nonotuck Silk Company in 1886 and was intended to be knit out of silk thread.  I used Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Dk.
I found the pattern on the Vintageknits website.  This is very simple lace pattern suitable for a first-time lace knitter.

24  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Thanksgiving / Re: T-day Napkins (Nothing Special, Just Pretty Fabric) on: November 26, 2009 02:19:28 PM
The Smithsonian commissioned RJR Fabrics to print these patterns in 1994.  The collection was called "Rising Sun."  The original fabrics were in a quilt made by a woman in 1830.  So thankful to have stashbusted!
25  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Thanksgiving / T-day Napkins (Nothing Special, Just Pretty Fabric) on: November 26, 2009 11:28:28 AM
Woke up this morning obsessed with sewing Thanksgiving napkins.  I used fabrics that are reproductions of textiles popular in the southern U.S. at about the time of the Civil War.  They're super easy to make-- just a hemmed 22" square with mitred corners.  Happy T-day!

Such creativity!  You're a genius!
27  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Inauguration Necklace on: January 19, 2009 09:16:32 PM
Here's my second necklace.  It's made of freshwater pearls, Swarovski crystals, Czech glass, quartz, enameled beads, silver frame and a photo.
I don't know about your neck of the woods, but it feels like New Year's Eve here in Berkeley, California!  Woo hoo!
28  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Variety of necklaces made from Polymer clay. Swords, Hearts, Seahorses,..... on: January 19, 2009 10:15:23 AM
The weapons look fantastic!  I love the ones that look like medieval dental/surgery tools.
29  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Inauguration Necklace on: January 18, 2009 10:42:58 AM
Here's a necklace I made for the inauguration.  (It's my first necklace.)  Whoa, it's super dangerous to venture into a bead store.
I looked everywhere for a tiny pic of Obama.  Finally found one in Black Hair magazine.  Attached it to the frame with Diamond Glaze.

30  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Fabric Beach Balls on: January 02, 2009 08:46:28 AM
I've sewn 24 balls so far.  I'm tempted to make a class set for tossing around on rainy days when we can't go out for recess.
It takes me about 20 minutes to make one ball, because I reinforce all the seams.  Sometimes it comes in handy to be obsessive!
