1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Fascinating Fascinators on: June 02, 2009 04:14:16 PM
If you like to decorate the sides of your head like I do, there's no reason to go it alone!  We can work through this together.    Wink

Two options for this:
1. Send your partner two fascinators
OR
2. Send your partner one fascinator and one other accessory, be it an accompanying piece of jewelry, other hair thing, small lap dog that fits in a purse, etc.

I'm thinking of giving a month of craft time, but we can modify that if people are interested.

** Feel left out?  Don't know what the bleep I'm talking about?  Google 'fascinator' to view the trendy splendor, and then google 'how to make a fascinator' to see how easy and fun and exciting it looks, and then reply here with an AMEN I AM SO INTO THIS IDEA so I this party train can leave the station.

So light and small for shipping, so quick and easy for crafting, how could you go wrong?
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Applique/embroidered robe on: April 17, 2008 03:38:51 PM
I made this for the Bath/Spa swap and was really happy with the result. I've since thought of a better shape for the owl, but I still like the way it all turned out.

The Bath/Spa Swap is in full swing and we have had our first sender!  Thus I have started the gallery for everyone to post pictures of what they receive.

Here is the original thread for the swap: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=228048.0

And here are our pictures and comments!
4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / it's a flavor explooosion on: February 24, 2008 09:56:30 AM
This blanket wasn't meant to be such a monstrosity, but it came out that way. Beware the visual onslaught:

It is baby-sized and for a local emergency shelter.

Thanks for looking!
5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Pimp My Linen Closet Swap on: February 23, 2008 01:08:43 PM
Okay, so i'm an old fuddy duddy and seriously enjoy things like:

towels
napkins
tablecloths
handkerchiefs
placemats
pillowcases
napkin rings
blankets
et cetera

Am I the only one? I have a feeling yes, but if not, let me know and we can swap!!!  I'm about to have my own place and I want to stock it with some nice homemade linens.
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Baby Girl Blanket/Sampler on: February 18, 2008 08:07:52 PM
I quickly realized that this blanket might get boring in a hurry, so I used three yarns and several new stitch patterns to keep it interesting:

I have more close up shots to show the stitches, but basically it includes sc, dc, two kinds of shell stitch, sc through the back loop, sc through the post, and a line of needle-woven pink through a row of white dc's.  I like it, I think it's super pretty and I know that as a young girl I would have adored the colors.

It is going to be donated to Project Linus, so I hope whoever gets it likes it.

8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Bath/Spa swap on: January 15, 2008 07:03:41 PM
Would anyone be interested in doing a bath or spa swap?  From what I've seen there are a ton of options.  I think it would be a fun way to do either a few little projects or something bigger.

Some ideas I had:
-soaps/soap kits
-face masks, body scrubs, etc. OR mixes to make them at home
-wash cloths and/or towels - embroidered, crocheted, knitted?
-slippers/bed socks
-sleep masks
-makeup/cosmetic cases or nail kit organizers

Let me know what you think!  Even if only a few people are interested I think it would be worth doing.  Once my current swap ends I think I could organize.
9  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / My first time spinning (image heavy) on: January 08, 2008 05:40:45 PM
A knitting friend of mine (who I actually met through craftster due to her resourcefulness!) recently took the time to teach me how to spin, allowing me to borrow a spindle and giving me some fiber to practice with.

Here's a yard I made just learning:
http://pics.livejournal.com/lindsoriah/pic/0004z887/

Here's my first skein!  (Or, as I called it after finishing it and twisting it into a stubby twist, my yarn baby)

She gave me some gray wool and some wool made of bright pink, teal, and purple, so I combined them for maximum yardage and usability.
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions / make a dog outfit on: July 18, 2007 06:13:07 PM
Does anyone know how to go about designing a dog outfit?  my mom just got a cairn terrier (we've always had huge dogs) and i really want to dress him up.

is there a basic pattern somewhere that I can follow?  thanks in advance for any help I may receive.
