1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Making something smaller? on: November 11, 2008 07:46:31 AM
So I want to make my midwives mini womb ornaments for Christmas. But the pattern on knitty (http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter04/PATTwomb.html) is just too large for that.

Would using smaller yarn and smaller needles make a smaller womb? Or would I have to like, do math.
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Wire help... on: July 03, 2008 10:22:20 PM
So I want to copy a pendent I saw. It is made of SS wire, and the wire is a round wire. The problem is, when I go looking for SS wire I find things like "dead soft" and the like.

I am not sure what I am looking for. I want something soft that I can bend to make the pendant, but not so soft that it gets misshapen just from wearing it. I have never worked with SS before, so this is all new to me. I tried looking at the stickys up top, but I just could not find what I am looking for Sad

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Need help with a pattern...... :D on: December 26, 2007 09:33:13 PM
This will be fun! I think...

I saw a shirt I LOVE at target http://www.target.com/Juniors-Mossimo-Supply-Cable-Pullover/dp/B000WO3IZ8/sr=1-8/qid=1198732592/ref=sr_1_8/601-3391264-9445768?ie=UTF8&index=target&field-browse=1041790&rh=k%3Apullover%2Ctgt%5F3%3AMossimo&page=1
But with my post-baby body it is not as long as I need it. So I figured "Hey! I can knit, I will just make the thing"

So I found this http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring04/PATTrosebud.html Pattern that I think I can alter for my needs. But, I have never done anything like this before. I would love some hints!!!! Cheesy

9  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / dying black using food dyes, can it be done? on: August 23, 2007 10:27:09 PM
I have looked in the sticky up top, but I can not find what I am looking for. I want to make a black, green, and orange yarn. The green and orange I know how to do. The black not so much, lol. My husband said to use a mix of dark colors, but I think that would just make brownish nastyness. Sad
10  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / How to save this quilt?? on: June 27, 2007 02:25:31 PM
My grandmother made me a quilt shortly before she died, and I have been using it for the last 6 or 7 years. Now the backing has a hole in it, and the front squares are pulling apart. Is there anyway I can save this (besides stop using it, I already have). I am CLUELESS on quilting. Smiley
