1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / crafty flower idea on: January 29, 2008 03:40:03 AM
i found these on etsy last night the seller is therussian to give credit where due.

i had just planned to do silk flowers but i'm kind of digging these. i can see me having a bundle and then the bridesmaids having three.  she even does buds that would work for the guys.

and the best part... they look totally craftable. with some practice of course  Cheesy  and if they aren't (or i run out of time, hers are pretty affordable)
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Online Sources for crafty wedding stuff on: January 07, 2008 12:41:46 PM
I did a search for a thread like this and didn't see anything so I thought I would start one.  I know I've done a lot of online hunting for various things so I thought maybe we could have sort of an index of places to find things.  Recommendations for places you liked, places to stay away from, unique finds, etc. etc.  That way, those of us who have already done some searching can help out others who are looking for the same things.

Candles 4 Less - Candles in all sizes, shapes, and colors and candle holders and for less than in stores.

Nature's Pressed - Real leaves and wildflowers pressed and dried for reasonable prices.  Variety packs available

Artistic Floral Design's Fall Leaves - the most realistic looking silk fall leaves I have been able to find.  Offer 1 free sample, additional samples are pretty cheap.  (Also have flowers and other decorations)

Gala Source - Its a restaurant supply store so there is all kinds of stuff there but look around, there are deals.  They have chargers, cake stands, dishes, etc. for less than places that market to brides

pictureframes.com - You can pick your size, pick your frame, pick your mat... We put together our "guestbook" picture frame with mat here when I couldn't find anything I liked elsewhere.

Feel free to add on.  I'm always amazed by the wealth of information I find in this place Smiley
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / looking for pictures of Rowan Tapestry on: March 14, 2007 08:57:54 AM
i have finally decided on tapestry to make the lady e as a gift for my mom but i can't decide between a couple of the colorways.  i've got it narrowed down to rainbow, moorland, or rustic, and if it were for me, i would knit it in rainbow.  but alas, i will be giving it away so i want to pick the colors that would best suit my mom.  unfortunately i'm having a hard time picturing what the three colorways will look like when knitted.

i was hoping some of you might have pictures of the moorland and rainbow colorways as WIP's or FO's.  (i have found some using the rustic)  it doesn't  neccessarily have to be in entrelac though if so, that's even better.
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Columbus Ohio LYS's on: March 02, 2007 07:37:25 AM
i know we have some central ohio knitter's around here so i was wondering if any of you had any recommendations for yarn stores in the area.

i've been knitting for about a year and lately i've started buying yarns other than just the stuff from joanns.  i live close to Heavenly Creations (in Grandview) and i really like the people there but the selection isn't huge.  when i first started knitting i went to another store which shall remain unnamed a few times but i always got a very 'go back to joanns where you belong' kind of vibe.  i really liked their selection but was so turned off by the way i was treated that i don't like to go back.  i was wondering if any one from this area had a favorite yarn store to recommend.
