dellastella, those look amazing!!

if anyone is interested, my flowers came in the mail a few days ago and i've put them together into bouquets.  i think they turned out great, though maybe not everyone's style.

2  Re: DIY wedding invitations - advice please? in Weddings and Bridal Showers by zarafa on: March 18, 2008 05:05:39 PM
we did something similar with our invites, but we used a corner punch.  the top layer is cream colored and the one that shows through is a metallic copper.

we do have the same leaf punch that all cut up used and i want to try to find a way to work that one in as well.  i might use it on the programs or something.

As for how to stick the layers together, the woman paper store recommended these.  so far they have worked great.  we got a bunch of multipacks at the craft store.

HHJamie, that picture is so cute. it looks professionally done!

I FINALLY finished my second bridesmaid wrap.  Jeebus this one took forever.  Hopefully the next two go a little faster or I'll never finish them in time.  here's the wrap in action

and here is the stitch pattern up close

yay! i finally put together a few of my invitations today and i am super happy with them.  they probably cost about 300$ total for about 115 invites (minus a few messed up ones).  the paper supplies, which included envelopes and all the paper for the invitations, reply cards, and information inserts (which we haven't printed yet), came to about $230 at the local paper store.  the gold leaf stickers were from Martha Stewart and they were $1.99 for 9 stickers.  The printing was done at FH's office and i put the type together in photoshop.  i did have to invest in a paper cutter and the punch for the corners.  overall it was a pretty good investment doing them ourselves... the woman at the paper store estimated just shy of $700 for them to print and assemble the invites so its definitely worth the work to do them ourselves.

there are actually three different variations of the design because there are three different leaf stickers and FH and i couldn't decide which corner punch we liked better. (sorry for the giant pictures)

huzzah!! finally finished all the big candles.  i thought it would never end.  now all i have left is a few votive sized ones to be used in the church.  here's a shot of what the final centerpiece will look like, including the gold chargers and leaves around the base.

so i've been putting off working on the centerpieces because of the magnitude of the endeavor.  putting multiple leaves on 48 candles is a lot of work, especially when my fingers pretty much end up glued together halfway through.  Cheesy  but i've been doing a few at a time and they are actually turning out really nicely (i think at least)

here are the first set.  (we are doing four different sizes)

third time's a charm... maybe?  same blur vignette then zoomed in and erased the blur over the ring.

the problem i ran into trying to make it blurry was the ring.  realistically, if the text is blurry or out of focus, then the ring should be out of focus as well.  so just blurring out the words and leaving the ring fairly well focused bothers my eye.

i tried using a focus vignette, which i think looks decent.  it also looks a little more natural because the focus fades out, but again doesn't really work if you want to keep the ring in focus.

I like the last one which would be #4 ... because it has the proper coloring .. Its not yellowish ...

the coloring in the other's can be fixed pretty easily though.  i snagged one and started messing around with it, just to see (hope you don't mind thekster. i pm'd you, but since stevesgrl mentioned it...)

more crafting goodies from last night...

flower girl basket before...

flower girl basket after...

unity candle (though my camera decided not to focus all that well, you get the idea)

and most of the invitation components.  i really like both corner punch outs so if i can't decide on one, we may use one on half the invitations and the other on the rest.  i also really like the idea of those slide things that go over the invitations so i'm keeping an eye out for some ribbon or something that would work for that.  the gold leaves are stickers from martha stewart that we're going to incorporate somehow.

oh the dark thing on the right is the envelope.  we're doing a tall skinny invitation because i like the long envelopes with the tie tops.
