71  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / ridiculously easy skirt...now with pic!! (ice cream applique) on: February 06, 2007 10:21:18 AM
i finally got around to adding a pic (tho it's not a great one)....it's of the first skirt i made (which i added a giant ice cream cone applique to).....i kinda laughed when i saw the pic cuz there is this wierd white light in the pic by the bottom of the skirt  which reminds me of those pics people claim to have of ghosts (maybe my ice cream skirt is haunted?)
hee hee

sorry, i've completely lost my mind....this pic isn't even of the right skirt.....i'll try fixing it later

hey all...
i just got a sewing machine a couple weeks ago and am learning to sew...i'm so proud of myself cuz i just made a skirt and it came out pretty dang cool and it was totally easy....it's a 6 gore skirt and i used this tutorial:
http://patternsthatfityou.com/frskirtcl.htm
and i learned how to put in the zipper using this incredibly easy tutorial:
http://whatthecraft.com/

wish i had a camera so ya'll could see...
it took less than 3 hrs to make, including measuring and making the pattern and all the cutting of fabric...but i'm sure if i make another one i could do it in like an hour.....i'd probably alter the first pattern i made as well as i didn't measure good enough which made my skirt end up a bit too big....i'm totally excited about learning to make my own clothes as it's so difficult to find anything cute for chubby girls ...do designers assume that only grandmas are chubby? i swear anything that actually fits is totally in an old lady style....okay,rant over!
72  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / good idea or totally lame?? you be the judge... on: February 04, 2007 01:44:46 PM
not sure if this is the right area to post this...so sorry if it's not!!
...i made a little stuffed animal bunny today, (i don't have a camera to post a pic-sorry!)...anyways i was thinking of easter (i know it's a long ways off, but...)...and i was thinking i could make a TON of those little bunnies and take 'em to the local women's shelter for them to put in the easter baskets (i know there are a lot of children there)...the bunnies would be little fabric bunnies approx 5-6" tall with a little pom-pom tail and embroidered eyes and nose...i drew a really simple pattern, but i think it came out pretty darn cute....so i'm wondering if that's a good idea or do you think it's kind of lame?? i appreciate the input! thanks!

also...does anyone have any ideas for a really inexpensive place to buy stuffing for stuffed toys?? thanks!!
