61  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / I will eat you alive bag on: July 02, 2007 11:05:47 AM
this is a tote bag i made....the floral fabric is a vintage thrift store find....the embroidery says "i will eat you alive"  (i'm really into embroidering using my own handwriting right now, as opposed to a "pretty" embroidery alphabet)

hope you like!
62  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Tabi Japanese Style Socks on: June 26, 2007 08:31:31 AM
I'm sure this has been done before, and it's not terribly clever or anything....but I needed some socks to wear with my sandals....so i took an old pair of socks and cut between where the big toe and second toe would be and stitched 'em up....and....voila!  (I thought about just buying some, but they were expensive!)
63  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / I Made A Puppet Theater! on: June 14, 2007 08:05:52 AM
i finished this puppet theater thingie yesterday...it is a paper mache box with two long slits in the top....the "puppets" are animals i cut from a children's book that are taped to bbq skewers....the puppets/skewers slide along the slits in the top so that you can move the animals around to tell your story.....you can also remove any or all of the animals...

i think if i make another i'd do a better job of the paper mache (or maybe just make a cardstock box or something)....and i'd use my own artwork for the characters....(i would also probably paint the skewers to match the background)....also, i think a wider box would be better as to allow the characters to move about more

obviously the sharp skewers don't make this a very child friendly toy, but you could safety those up if you wanted (i just made this for my own enjoyment tho!)

thanks for looking!
64  CLOTHING / Sewing Pattern Reviews / more of a tutorial review than a pattern review... on: May 15, 2007 12:52:14 PM
i made a skirt out of some jeans i bought that were to big...i used this tutorial:

http://www.savvyseams.com/clothing/jeanskirt.php

...the tutorial was easy to follow with lots of pics...(i need to buy a new camera, or i'd show ya the pics....maybe i'll update later)

anyways, it's a good tutorial for turning some jeans into an a-line type skirt....i plan to make another one!

thought i'd share as this jeans into skirt tutorial was different than some others i've seen
