1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: Party Animals Pet Portrait, with tute (of sorts) on: February 23, 2013 06:27:34 AM
This could totally just be my own weird problem, but I find that sometimes marks left with carbon paper act as a "resist" when I go to put paint down.  It seems like carbon should be carbon...but I wonder...I still use the "scribble method".  Wink

I use Sally's graphite paper by Saral.  It says "wax free" on the package.  I never have the "resist" problem with it.  I wonder if it's the brand you are using...?

This is one of those paintings I just keep coming back to look at.  It's wonderful and inspiring.  Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing your process!!  You and I work in a very similar way (even though our end products are quite different).  I always love seeing how other people create art.  The painting couldn't be cuter!  Top notch work! This and others of yours I've seen are really fantastic!!  I love your tip about how you did the tiara.  I think I'll be incorporating that into some future project.  Grin   I agree with the others who love carbon paper.  It is definitely faster than doing the pencil thing.  I get mine at Michael's with a coupon (in the drawing supplies section) and it's pretty cheap.  I like to work on pretty large paintings sometimes...would hate to pencil in the back of  a 36 inch sketch.   Tongue
