61  Re: Ongoing Offer What You Have (Crafts/Supplies) Swap - March in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by raynbow on: March 04, 2007 05:33:37 AM
I'm Raynbow and I've been approved for the swap and I'd like to claim Javeda for her awesome ball of yarn journal and some stitch markers (the panda ones?)

list in a sec!

I live in Indiana, in the United States.
My list is below, if anyone has any feedback on it (am I offering too much on some of them? too little on others? is any of my stuff so junky no one would want it?)  I would appreciate
Patterns choose any set of two (or recombine if you would like a different set of 2) please PM me.  This is my first time doing this swap, or any swap at craftster, so any guidance would be welcome.

Apologies if some of the pictures aren't great (some are definately a little washed out).  I haven't found a good place to take pictures yet in our new house.

Here's a picture of some roving I dyed today.  I think some of what I send out will be in long pieces like this, and some will be in shorter (1-2 ft lengths).  Also the colors will probably all be different depending on how inspiration strikes me. Smiley

There's a picture of the rolags I'm also making earlier in this thread.  Although I'm going to take another picture now that I have three big boxes of them in the living room.

Ok, this is my first attempt at any kind of novelty yarn, and I'm not sure I'm pleased with it.  But in the pictures it doesn't look too bad Wink

Apologies that all my skeins are 'mini skeins' but I just have not had ANY time to craft lately.  But seeing everyone's stuff on here has me really inspired to try and create SOMETHING each week, even if it's not alot!

*Ignore the yellow green, that's the ties on the skein.  Do you guys take your ties off before you skein/photograph or are you just good at hiding them?

Here are the pictures of my items, both are spinning/felting wool:

The first is hand carded green and yellow rolags, here is a picture of a big pile of them.  There are several different colors of green.  I haven't decided if I'll try and make each pack one color or close to one color or if I'll put a little bit of all the shades in each pack.  If anyone has any preferences, please let me know.

The second item is hand dyed / hand painted rovings/tops.  I've got a couple different things going on here.  I'll have some that are just big long stretches of roving in one color way, like this:

And some that are lots of smaller pieces in a variety of colors, like this:

I'm thinking each pack will be half and half.  One good long piece in a single colorway and then a bunch of the smaller rovings.  Also, this is only about half of what I will need for the swap, so you might not get these exact colors.

67  Re: 2007 Color Craft-A-Long in Craftalongs by raynbow on: February 23, 2007 06:52:01 PM
I was hoping to have this craft one more step along by the end of the month, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen.

This will eventually be some convertible mittens for my husband.

Right now it's just a skein of handspun and my first attempt at navajo plying!

70  Re: FIBER FRIDAY! 1/26/07 in Spinning: Completed Projects by raynbow on: January 26, 2007 06:58:37 AM
Hi, I'm a newbie here.  I've lurked off and on for a while but just finally signed up recently.  Seeing all of your beautiful items finally motivated me to take a picture of some of the things I've done.

I'm not just a newbie here, I'm also pretty new to spinning, so it's nothing incredible, just some of my first few skeins.

I don't have a picture of my very first skein, but these are some of the first ones I did on my drop spindle.  The two blue skeins are from a sort of pencil roving I found at my LYS.  The middle skein was dyed with Lime Kool-Aid after I spun it.

These next two are some of the first skeins I did on my wheel.  I had a nicer skein similar to the one on the left, but I gave it to my MiL for Xmas.  This one I did at her house while showing her how to use my wheel and with my husband and BiL 'helping' so forgive the mess.

This last batch I honestly don't remember if I did on the wheel or the drop spindle.  It was probably the drop spindle, but I'm not sure.  It was one of my first great dying experiments.  It's hard to tell but it's actually varigated with just about every color of red Kool-Aid or Flavor-Aid.  I had alot of fun making that, and now I'm knitting it into some cabled handwarmers for my freezing cold office.
