11  Basset Hound Pastel Portrait in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by ericav on: May 19, 2009 02:50:59 PM
So I did this one for a friend, she does a lot of work with Basset Hound Rescue. Her coffee shop has a lot of Basset Hound related things as well and I thought she might like it for her store. I really like this one, I put it on my new business cards. Grin

12  Beatles T- Shirt in Needlework: Completed Projects by ericav on: April 22, 2009 06:59:18 AM
I made this for my friend a while back. We used to be roommates and sadly lost touch. I was so excited to find her on facebook and we're good friends again! She is a huge Beatles fan. I sent her a button on facebook and fell in love with the design. I decided to embroider it on a shirt and give that to her for her birthday. So here's the shirt, based on a facebook button:

13  Cotton-Top Tamarin Pastel Portrait in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by ericav on: March 04, 2009 12:05:33 PM

Close up on the detail

I went through my reference photos and I found some great Tamarin Monkey photos from the National Zoo. I decided to create a portrait based on them. I really like how this one turned out. It's 8x10 done on velour paper with pastels.

15  Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Pastel Portrait in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by ericav on: December 01, 2008 12:22:56 PM
I did this commission a couple weeks ago. I'm pretty proud of it. I took maybe 2 days. The person that commissioned me is going to give it as a Christmas present (don't worry, the recipient doesn't use the internet much from what I understand).

It's 12"x16" on Velour Paper.

Comments always welcomed

Thanks for looking!

Whenever I see my chinchilla, she looks like she's dancing around. So I got inspired to draw a chinchilla in a tutu.  Grin

It's a 9x12 pastel on velour paper.

I also have my parents fluffy persians. I don't have any photos of one, Chole, because they just adopted her. They have Valerie a blue point persian and Chole and white persian. They look like salt and pepper shakers together.

Here's some photos of Valerie (she's 10):

(photo of her in the sink as a kitten. she loved sleeping in bowls and sinks)

Here's a cute video of her getting a bath on youtube

Oh this swap is coming at a perfect time! Simon needs some extra attention because we just got a puppy! I'm trying to give him extra love but I can tell he's still upset with all the changes.

He's a picture of our big furry Siberian. We adopted him from a no kill animal shelter at 4 months old, he was abused and it took a lot of positive training to get to where he is now.

19  Doggie Portrait in Colored Pencil (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by ericav on: August 11, 2008 02:53:49 PM
My husband and I have wanted a CKCS for a long time now. I spent 3 three years trying to rescue one. I must have sent in 40 applications for dogs over the years and never heard back. Then one day I'm in my vet's office picking up my cats food and a man walks in with his Cavalier. Right away, I'm gushing over his dog and telling him how badly we want one. Then he tells me that he's coming in to see if she was pregnant!! So, it turned out that she was pregnant and he let us have pick of the litter! It was like fate! When he saw my art, he asked me if I would create a portrait of the mother, Sarah. We're going to bring home our puppy home this Friday, we're naming her Stella.  So here's Sarah's portrait. I'm very proud of it and I can't wait to give it to him.

Here's a picture of our puppy at 5 weeks old on the day we picked her out (she's going to be 9 weeks when she comes home).

Not the best picture of me, but it's become one of my favorites.

My amazing DH with our puppy.

20  Rottie K-9 and Rottie Husky Mix Portrait in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by ericav on: August 02, 2008 05:12:17 AM
A while back I was at a fundraiser event for Husky House (www.huskyhouse.org) People would order portraits, and a percentage of the order would be donated to Husky House. One man ordered portraits of his dogs Montana and Cubby. Montana is a Rottweiler-Husky mix and Cubby was a Rottweiler.

The sad part, Cubby was alive when he ordered the portrait. A couple weeks later (when it was time for me to start the portrait) Cubby was diagnosed with fast onset of cancer and had to be put to sleep. It was very sudden and big shock. Cubby was also a K-9 Narcotics officer for 9 years and a very important part of the community. It was very heart breaking news and my heart really went out to him. So the portrait became even more important for me to work on and I put many hours into it. I'm going to make him a memorial plaque from the portrait as well.
