fellow stenciling craftsters, i have something to admit. today, i made a stencil of myself and put it on a shirt. is this bad? has anyone else tired of stenciling famous people, guns, and lightbulbs? does this seem overly egotistical? should i actually wear this shirt out of the house? am i just randomly venting over some obsucure issue during the wee hours of the morning?
i was checking out some links from the pumpkin carving stencils link (i forget where they were on here) and found this rad where the wild things are stencil. they also had a stencil of max riding a wild thing. i think im gonna do that one next. so here it is. closeup:
wish my little-boy wal*mart shirts were more fitted
i went to chicago yesterday...the day itself was hell, but i did manage to get to the art muesuem. anyway, while i was there, they had a display on old victorian furniture and sliver and stuff. i myself am not really a fan of furniture, but i went anyway. i was looking at a sign and it said something about these little pieces of paper that victorian people used to cover blemishes on thier face. it said the thin paper was shaped like stars and such. this is where the phrase 'starry eyed' came from because two little stars in the corners of the eyes symbolized passion. or something like that. i thought it would be cool, so i made some. theyre on both sides of my face, but im just showing one side, because *suprise* both sides look the same!
i think the regular computer paper that i used was too thick. i think i will try this with tissue paper. the stars are attached to my face with rubber cement. it actually works pretty well, and comes off nicely. o, and i colored over the stars with sliver reflective sharpie.
i had this old keyboard lying around...the keys were sticking...maybe i should have been more careful with orange juice around the computer! anyway, i took all the keys off and cleaned them...and now it works fine. but while the keys were off i saw a permanent marker laying next to the key-less keyboard and....yea. anyway, i have to redo the other half of the keyboard, but for now you can see this side. i like it better anyway. sorry about the shitty picture...the colors are ALOT more vivid in person.
Well, classes will be starting soon...so like every other 'good' student, i went out and bought some notebooks at wally*world. they looked pretty boring, so, i started yet another late-nite revamp with some round white sticky dots and black sharpie. here it is. THE ROUND STICKY DOTS NOTEBOOK!
last nite/this morning, i couldnt sleep so i diecided to make....A BAG! actually, i made two bags, but the one pictured is the first one. i dont like the second one as much. anway, i couldnt find anything really suitable for the handles, but once i start something i like to finish it, or else it wont get done. anyway, i used green ribbon for the handles. http://home.ripway.com/2004-6/133316/nakedmilking.jpg
oh, and in reference to the 'naked milking' thing--my dad is a professor of dairy science, and he left this here last time he was up...so just to clairify, i dont milk naked! sorry!
i was looking at rosered's awesome tattoo shoes (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=4269.0) and thought i'd make my own. too bad im not that artistically talented with birds and shapes. anyway, what i did do on my white ked rip-off shoes (told you i was cheap, i cant even buy real keds) was kind of a retro saddle shoe. my digital camera's on the verge of revoulution, so the pics arent that great...sorry. well, here it is...i've only done one shoe so far. its mate is coming soon.
dunno if you can tell from the pics, but the inside sole is done too with the same checker pattern. On this shoe i used permanent markers and am contelpalting sprayed them with scotchguard to keep the water from bleeding the marker...i hope it works, because i havent tested it on anything else yet. i really hope these hold up, because they are my new favortie pair of shoes! (next to my worn in chuck taylors)
well, if any of you have idea/suggestions for future shoes, let me know
i was feeling political yesterday, and decided to make a shirt. this has proably been done before, but im doing it again. so here it is:
http://home.ripway.com/2004-6/133316/loveandwar2.jpg this is the back. i think it turned out better than the front. i wanted a graffti/spraypaint effect,so i lightly glued the back of the stencil with a gluestick so that some of the paint could leak out under the paper. i used decoart sosoft fabric paint, of which i put one coat on a blue tshirt.
and there you have it...an easy political tshirt from eva!
o and i used little boy tshirts from walmart and made black and white stencils on MS word. the young mens tshirts from walmart are too long. also thanks to yardenxanthe for giving me the idea with the sofia loren stencil.
