1  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / I feel like an idiot stenciling question on: November 15, 2007 06:12:56 PM
Okay, I have read every tutorial about freezer paper stenciling and I am still stuck sort of. I get that you iron the freezer paper to the fabric the shape of the image. But do you then still keep the stencil around it. Or do you just iron on a slab of freezer paper and then lay the stencil over the fabric. I'm not sure why I can't figure this out, so I'm asking for help. Huh
2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / New Sewing Machine Question on: November 15, 2007 05:30:33 PM
I just got a new sewing machine today, a Viking 775. It's an awesome machine but I forgot to try winding a bobbin in front of the sales woman and I can't remember from when she did it does anyone know how? Huh
3  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Completed Projects / My first dyeing on: June 23, 2007 10:04:25 AM
I got a skein of this hand spun alpaca at the Estes Park Wool market.  It's for a sweater for my son.  I couldn't find colors that I liked so I decided to try my hand at dyeing.  I started with Koolaid (eight packets for 1 gal of water) but it was too light so I redyed it with food coloring which came out darker.  I am really happy with how vibrant it came out.

I am excited for my next batch!
4  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Pudding Is Better for You than Ice Cream, Chocolate Pudding on: April 12, 2007 04:30:30 PM
I can't say about the store bought puddings but if you look at a recipe for ice cream and the pudding one above the pudding wins.  I would imagine it would be the same since the big differences is cream and amount of sugar.
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Paperback Wallet on: February 09, 2007 06:01:39 PM
I hate fat wallets.  But it seems that unless you want something in leather and boring wallets are made to be put in purses.  I'm a pocket kind of girl and I've endured years of mens wallets.  Then the other day I was reading a book and the pages kept falling out.  It was a 60's copy of the book and had a great illustration.  I decided to try making an ultra thin wallet out of it.  The next day I was in a bookstore and everyone loved it and the suggest I make more to sell there.  Right now I'm using contact paper but I think the next ones I make out of something tougher, any ideas?  I also think I'll add one card pocket, but not too much since I want them to stay thin.

7  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Re: Cheap, quick fix to an overwhite apartment on: February 09, 2007 05:38:43 PM
Hey the latest issue of Ready Made has an article on how to put fabric on the walls using starch.  When you're done just peel it off and wipe the wall down.
8  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Re: Traditional to Modern Redo on: February 09, 2007 05:35:42 PM
It always amazes me that things like color and lighting really can change a space.  I think it looks awesome.

If you can find an art store that has drafting supplies as well they usually do.

I am completely inspired.  I really liked how you used some of the words that were on the pages instead of only using it as background.
