1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: yarn for a baby blanket on: September 07, 2010 03:58:44 PM
@striker923
I am still deciding on the pattern and knitting some swatches. Some of the options are basketweave, moss stitch (highly squooshy), a diagonal stockinette, and this one: http://andreatung.blogspot.com/2007/08/baby-blanket-pattern.html

Thank you & to everyone else for the suggestions!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / yarn for a baby blanket on: September 06, 2010 02:58:04 AM
My cousin is having her first baby and I'm planning on knitting a baby blanket for her for the first time. I would love some suggestions on what fibers and weights would be best to use. I want the blanket to be easy to care for (i.e. machine-washable), durable and pretty much the sort of blanket my future niece or nephew will be carrying around everywhere hopefully Smiley Specific brands and yarns would be great.

Thank you!

These are so effing adorable. My favourite is the one with all the buttons.

Wowow, what a great job! Super cute, I'll keep this in mind next time I go fabric shopping.

We have the same taste, because I have this pattern bookmarked for when my local store has a sale on Simplicity patterns :]
It looks great. I would love to see some pictures of the lining too.
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / How long should a toddler's scarf be? on: December 04, 2008 12:02:34 AM
I'm making a scarf for my two-year-old niece but I'm not sure how long I should make it. The general idea I've been getting from Google is about 40". Is this about right, or should it be longer/shorter? I haven't seen her in a while, unfortunately.

It's absolutely gorgeous, & I especially love the bows at the back. You and your classmates did a fantastic job.

Wow, she did a seriously awesome job. Your nephew was probably the envy of all the kids (and some adults) in the neighbourhood!
