1  Sterling Silver Spoon Flatware Case with box in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by sugarpie on: March 19, 2009 03:34:35 PM
My friends got married and I found these great Sterling Silver Spoons monogrammed with their last name initial.  I made a case, there's a slot for each spoon, then the flap goes over and wraps in thirds, then ties with two sewn in sashes.  The box is covered with the same satin used for the flatware case and the bottom is peau de soie.  These were her wedding colors; chocolate and red.
here it is all wrapped up

with it opened up all six spoons in their slots

then with the flap down before folding up

then begin folding it into thirds

the fabric covered box, top in satin, bottom in peau de soie

I was worried about covering a box in fabric, but it was very easy.  I did have to do the top twice though because the first time I sprayed too much adhesive.

I love it and I hope they do too.

2  Re: Knitty's Surface by Norah Gaughan Knitalong in Knitalongs by sugarpie on: January 27, 2009 01:44:50 PM

So far I've made the back and the collar.  See how cool the bobbles look?  Also, I like the reverse side too.  I'm working on the fronts now.

There are so many people who have FINISHED this on Ravelry!  Crazy!  So fast they are!

That last picture was too small I think.

I just found this knitalong, and I wanted to show you my mittens.  I just now finished weaving in the ends.  My husband took the picture.

6  Re: one skein of yarn projects? in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by sugarpie on: November 20, 2008 08:43:08 PM
How about fingerless gloves?  I have made several pairs of these for my sisters and girlfriends using only one skein of yarn.  The pattern is free it's from knitty.com

Okay!  I finished this last week but I'm slow at the posting thing.  I can't believe it was so quick!  I'm trying to make another one for my sister, but I'm fairly new to this "knitting-things-that-aren't-square-or-rectangular"!  So, I'm having problems sorting out how to increase without making a hole.  I don't think I get it yet.  Something about twisting?  Or purl in the back?  What does that mean?  I don't know.

Anyhow!  Here's my version, and thanks thanks thanks again to Julsey723.  She's so lovely to share with all of us.  Yay Julsey!

I have so MUCH of this yarn.  It's crazy.

I've actually made four of these but I already gave the other two away.  They are so fun and easy!  I don't know that I did the picot bind off correctly, and I'll try spray bottle blocking to see if it helps with the curling.  That was a good tip!

Anyhow, here they are.  The white ones I'm keeping I can't remember what yarn I used, but the grey ones are in a Jo Sharp yarn for my baby sister.

9  SF Giants Seed Bead Pin in Beads: Completed Projects by sugarpie on: June 26, 2007 11:08:50 AM
I made this pin for my friend's birthday.  I used size 10 seed beads in orange and black, sterling silver findings and a stainless steel 1 1/2 inch safety pin.  It was my first beading project.  Way fun!

Go Giants!

10  Brioche Stitch Scarf! in Knitting: Completed Projects by sugarpie on: June 25, 2007 07:53:17 PM
Last year the San Francisco Giants had a Stitch n Pitch and they gave us some orange and black yarn.  It was crap yarn, but I used as an exercise to practice my Brioche Stitch.  Since I actually love Brioche, the bread, I thought maybe I might also like Brioche the stitch!  And I DO!

Here's a few pictures, one of me wearing it and another is a close up of both sides of the scarf.  It was really fun to make and I have another one that I'll load up later!  It's pink and brown.

Go Giants!!!
