1  Hats! [picture heavy...sorry!] in Knitting: Completed Projects by mabills on: November 25, 2007 05:20:58 PM
Three hats I've been working on for Christmas presents.

Raindrop Hat

Northern Lights Hat

Tidal Wave Hat

All three:

I based the structure of the hats loosely on the Winter Sunrise Hat by Elinor Brown, but used a variety of stitch patterns, some that I found online, some that I made up on my own.  I have to say, these hats are quite addictive.  I can't want to start another!

This is my first colorwork project and I couldn't be happier!  I based the structure of the hat on Elinor Brown's Winter Sunrise Hat (http://www.knitlawrence.org/patterns/winter_sunrise_hat.pdf) and made up the patterns based on some images I found online.  (Sorry for the HUGE pictures...)

This took me about a month of on-and-off-again knitting (I tend to work on multiple projects at once).  It's knit out of a double strand of Knitpicks Shimmer in the Happy Dance colorway.  It's pretty bright, but I love it!  Now it just has to stop being 95 degrees and humid so that I can actually try it out...

Finished!  And with a picture!  The color is pretty accurate in the picture.  Other than that, well, it's a terrible picture, but at least you can see the sweater.  I ended up knitting it out of Wool-Ease on size 10 needles, which knitted up right on the mark gauge-wise in terms of width, but ended up knitting a bit longer than gauge.  I appreciate the extra length in the body, but ended up shortening the sleeves by a few rows (they're still really long!).  I love this sweater.  Too bad it's summer and I have to wait a few months to wear it. Sad
