1  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Stash-Be-Gone-Along? on: February 16, 2008 09:07:00 AM
I have de-stashed a lot. The whole family has got socks, mittens and hats for the winter, but I have still lots and lots of yarn.
My digi-cam is out of order, so you can't get pictures.
I've tried to make lists of my de-stashing, but I forget to write things down. But this year I've made

3 pair of socks
2 pair of mittens
1 pair of wristwarmer
1 hat

all made from my stash, to night I going to finish 2 pair of wristwarmer and a hat - I hope

I've destashed a little more, it's been very cold the last week, so I've got more time inside the house - the garden is not intersting in rain and storm.

the colors are much brighter IRL

I've made this cover in wool. The flowers are from an old Danish embroidery pattern.
The cuttingmat is in centimeters

I'll try to explain - hope you understand my English.

I cut my fabric in 1 inch wide stripes and wraps i round a coil. When I get to a new piece I let them go a bit over each other. If necessary I pin it. When all the coil is covered I make a snail app. 2 inches in dia. and stitches it with the machine, north/south, east/west. Now I have a base to sew on. Next step is sewing the covered coil to the base making it bigger and bigger, using a zig-zag stitch, when the bottom is the size I want, I make a little bend while I'm sewing to make the coil going upwards instead of feather out. The same technique as in ceramic potmaking.
Hope you understand. When I've got time I'll try to make a tutorial- but no promisses right now.

Hope it's the right place to post these baskets.
They are made by clothcoil and small leftovers from my patchworkstash, cut in 1 inch strips

ok, i know i'm probably the last one to start this, and I started right before clue 5 came out, so I'm playing catch up.

I just finished clue 2 - YAY!!

Better late than never. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. In the begining I found it hard but noe it's great.

3rd clue finished and ready for the 4th.

No mistakes today, so I'm a great fan of MS3 right now.
