EDIT: Ignore the following. I'm a doofus. Figured things out for now but I assume I'll have another crisis and get back on here soon enough.I'm knitting my first pair from Nancy Bush's
Knitting Vintage Socks - specifically the Gentleman's Plain Winter Sock. I've scoured craftster and other sites for help, including knittinghelp.com but still am confused!
I finished the cuff and the leg, arranged the sts as per the pattern (18 on Needle 1, 33 on Needle 2 for instep, and 19 on Needle 3). It then says: Knit across sts on needles 1 and 2. Does this mean I proceed to do this now? Or keep this in mind while I'm doing other stuff?
I thought knittinghelp.com gave me the answer and that I was supposed to just be knitting back and forth on one needle to make the heel but the pattern continues with...
Heel flap instructions: Set up for working 37 heel sts on 1 needle as foll: Sl 1, k17, p1 (center st), k18 sts from needle 1 - 37 sts for heel. Hold rem 33 sts on 2 needles to be worked later for instep. Work 37 heel sts back and forth in rows as foll: "blah blah..."
Okay, now I get that I need to set things up in order to knit back and forth to make the heel but the set up instructions baffle me.
Bottom line: can someone make the "set up for working 37 heel sts on needle 1 as foll" instructions more clear? I have no clue how I'm supposed to do this and finish up with "k18 sts from needle 1"...
