HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Total Noob question about ceramic paint pens

Hi everyone, it's been quite a while since I've posted here, though I do lurk about quite a bit! I have a question and hope someone can help, I tried to search, but couldn't find anything to help me (though it could be the wording I used), but anyway... After watching a craftster tutorial video about drawing on plates and tiles with ceramic pens I tried my hand at it, they turned out pretty well, but I realized that in the video it instructs you to use the same technique on the plates as you would when you make the coasters, trace and paint. It does not say wether or not you're supposed to bake them as well. I baked mine anyway, as it was an oven safe dish, and it looks good, but are they safe to eat off of? Will the paint eventually wear or chip off? And as far as the cups they showed in the video, do you bake those as well? I'm so excited to make a set of these so I hope someone knows! Thanks a bunch!

COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Fortune Cookie Help

Hello everyone! It's been quite a while since I posted on Craftster, but I do still lurk around from time to time. I am getting married in October and thought it would be fun to make some fortune cookies (I know they're crazy time consuming as I've made them before, but damn are they cute!) to set out on my dessert table. Any other time that I've made them they were eaten right away, so I don't actually know how long they will last if I make them ahead of time. The internet gave me answers ranging from less than 8 hours to 3 days. I knew I had to turn to yall for the answers! Also, if you have suggestions for small desserts other than this that have that same cool/weird vibe please let me know! I've already decided on making mini cream filled donuts and pie pops...Thanks for any help you can give me!

MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Other People's Families

Like a lot of you I hoard old photos, so I decided to do a series called "Other People's Families", The Ballad of Bobby Peck was the first in the series, these are the newest ones. I SWEAR I can take decent pictures, my camera just sucks right now. Rose (Best overall picture I could get) Close up of photo Baby in Pram (Truest colors) As you might be able to tell, I've become a tad obsessed with texture, I don't like Roses very much as a whole, but I love the texture I was able to create. The problem overall I think, is that the whole thing seems a bit unfinished. But nothing else works with it! Baby in pram has negatives behind it, I was able to score a box from an estate sale with pictures throughout decades from the same family, so all the negatives relate to the picture. Comments appreciated!

This was made using acrylic paint, a rusting agent, and an old photo edged in metal. The whole thing (true colors) Best close up of picture I could get Ripped effect The text says "Maybe it was I that pulled the trigger. Maybe we just jolted it off between us. Anyhow, he got both barrels in the face."

Here is a piece I made for my friend Jeannie. A view of it all Close up This was made with found materials and acrylic paint. The twine is held on by hinges that were screwed into the canvas, and there is a little thread spool strung between. Hope you enjoy!

JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / I made a charm bracelet!

I made this the other day and am really proud of how it turned out. I used old necklaces etc., found things, and some new stuff. I love the mix of old/ new, and expensive/ cheap, as well as the look of mixed metals. Now I know how hard this whole jewelry thing can be- but I am in love with doing it. Note the sweet lockets, the pretty sterling silver beads...oh, and the sparrow I got from AlteredMommy in a swap! Comments would make my day!

O.k.- well, I know this should probably go in Reconstructed Papercraft- but for some reason I feel more comfortable on this board. Here are two pages from my journal that I'm slowly working on filling. I'm mainly using it to experiment with new techniquesw- or as a way to get new ideas down before they leave my head. If you want to see more I'm adding them one by one to my blog- the link is in my signature. A Little Hatchet A Daunting Task Thanks for looking! Sorry for the huge pics and crappy scanniness.
