1  Made my friend a set of postcards from a very old children's book! in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by CraftyImperfections on: October 17, 2012 02:45:29 PM
The only thing I'm not so stoked about is the way the book is held shut, but at the time I didn't really have another option  Sad.  The book was falling apart so I didn't mind repurposing it, but unfortunately it came with that tape on the spine. There are also a few photos of the cards I made for her to send out as thank you notes.  Any critiques are welcome, thanks for looking!

Here's the link to the flickr account, because I didn't want to upload too many pictures...

2  Other People's Families in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by CraftyImperfections on: March 18, 2008 04:54:23 PM
Like a lot of you I hoard old photos, so I decided to do a series called "Other People's Families", The Ballad of Bobby Peck was the first in the series, these are the newest ones.
I SWEAR I can take decent pictures, my camera just sucks right now.

Rose (Best overall picture I could get)

Close up of photo

Baby in Pram (Truest colors)

As you might be able to tell, I've become a tad obsessed with texture, I don't like Roses very much as a whole, but I love the texture I was able to create.  The problem overall I think, is that the whole thing seems a bit unfinished.  But nothing else works with it!
Baby in pram has negatives behind it, I was able to score a box from an estate sale with pictures throughout decades from the same family, so all the negatives relate to the picture.
Comments appreciated!

3  The Ballad of Bobbie Peck in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by CraftyImperfections on: January 17, 2008 06:36:07 PM
This was made using acrylic paint, a rusting agent, and an old photo edged in metal.

The whole thing (true colors)

Best close up of picture I could get

Ripped effect

The text says "Maybe it was I that pulled the trigger.  Maybe we just jolted it off between us.  Anyhow, he got both barrels in the face."

4  New art in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by CraftyImperfections on: January 17, 2008 06:15:15 PM
Here is a piece I made for my friend Jeannie.

A view of it all

Close up

This was made with found materials and acrylic paint.  The twine is held on by hinges that were screwed into the canvas, and there is a little thread spool strung between.
Hope you enjoy!

5  I made a charm bracelet! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by CraftyImperfections on: August 21, 2007 10:04:06 AM
I made this the other day and am really proud of how it turned out.
I used old necklaces etc., found things, and some new stuff.  I love the mix of old/ new, and expensive/ cheap, as well as the look of mixed metals.  Now I know how hard this whole jewelry thing can be- but I am in love with doing it.  Note the sweet lockets, the pretty sterling silver beads...oh, and the sparrow I got from AlteredMommy in a swap!

Comments would make my day!

7  Visual Journaling in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by CraftyImperfections on: August 09, 2007 09:23:26 AM
O.k.- well, I know this should probably go in Reconstructed Papercraft- but for some reason I feel more comfortable on this board.  Here are two pages from my journal that I'm slowly working on filling.  I'm mainly using it to experiment with new techniquesw- or as a way to get new ideas down before they leave my head.  Wink  If you want to see more I'm adding them one by one to my blog- the link is in my signature.

Thanks for looking!  Sorry for the huge pics and crappy scanniness.

8  Personal Effects (babbetto's spoiler) in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by CraftyImperfections on: July 04, 2007 09:20:18 AM
I sure hope Babbetto liks this, I think there might be something off about it, maybe the white in the background, maybe I should make it a little darker, what do you think?

9  Polio Mother of the Year in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by CraftyImperfections on: July 04, 2007 06:53:23 AM
Well, it's been sometime since I've posted in this category, but I found this little piece of ephemera, a picture of a woman named Mrs. Davis W. Phillips, and a short line about her being the Polio Mother of the Year.  No explanation, no nothing, just the picture and the line.  She looked so full of life, so I had to make her into an ATC.  Her face is slightly blurry because the bow is keeping it from lying flat on the scanner.

I colored her dress and bow in with a dry brush rubbed onto a pastel, I love the soft effect, it looks (in real life) like how they used to do it on photos a long time ago.  Roughed up the edges, and as always, distress inks.  Hope you guys like it!  (I'll try to get a regular picture of it soon)

10  Shadow Box- (very pic heavy) now with a longwinded story about each box! in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by CraftyImperfections on: July 01, 2007 02:52:09 PM
I finally finished my shadow box, you might remember seeing the image from the largest box before, it was an ill-fated fathers day card.  There is a ton of special meaning behind everything in each box, but I won't bore you...  Sorry the photo's aren't flipped...

The whole she bang a bang

My fathers box,

My mothers box

My aunts box

A box for friends

In-law's box

Grandparents box

Neighbors Box

I might add more to it, but I'm not sure yet..
Hope you guys enjoy it, if you have any questions, please ask, comments make my day!  Have a good one.
