121  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / canvas and slipcovers on: January 27, 2007 05:52:46 PM
I didn't want to post two seperate topics on this, for fear of clogging boards and whatnot. (Sorry if I really should). But two questions.

1) Does anybody know a place to get nice, cheap, canvasses? I'm looking for smallish square ones that won't be too expensive.

2) I'm taking my parent's furniture when I move out in the summer. Only problem - its ugly as sin. So I was wondering if anybody knew where to find a good pattern for slipcovers. I figure I could just make them myself, It would probably be more cost efficient anyways, and plus, I'm a crafty kinda girl.

Thanks in advance and sorry if I really should be posting this as two seperate topics

Thanks for the advice everybody, I'll post some pictures of my finished room, when it's, y'know. finished. Unfortunately I've caught a doozy of a cold so it's on hold for now. Smiley

I made this using those little paint-sample things you can get at wal*mart. Or anywhere really. It's hard to tell from the picture (it was really hard to find good lighting) but the background is varying shades of blue and purple, with a bright orange peace sign. I just used a regular notebook and taped them on. I wanted to use glue, but we didn't have any. My only problem now is finding something to put over the cover so nothing gets bent/falls off  Cheesy

I've got this little slanty wall on one side of my room, I'm figuring I could hang some string lights across it. I'm planning on going to Target tomorrow after my exams, I'm so excited about this project Smiley Thanks

Hey everybody! This is my first post, and I have a teensy favor to ask. I'm redoing my room. I'd like an India/Moraccan theme to it, without going over the top. My walls are a cream color, and I can't paint them. I've got bright red curtains and a patchworked purple/red/gold/green bedding set. I also found these beautiful sheer maroon and gold curtains that I'll be hanging around my bed. Problem is, I don't know where to go from there. I'm on a tight budget, so I can't afford really extravagant things. Any advice on how to create this feel?

Have you tried that blue poster putty stuff? It just comes right off, doesn't pull paint at all.
