This is my second piece of art by Don Chuck Carvalho that I have transformed into embroidery. This piece took forever! forever! Definitely willing to bet around 100 hours, give or take.. I am giving this to a friend of mine, sorta bittersweet as I love it more than anything I have ever stitched.. but at least I can see if from time to time Let me know what you think!?
My love for art goes deeper than just needlecraft, I have had a great appreciation for art for many years. One of my favorites will always be traditional tattoo flash, my body is literally covered in it. I have wings, anchors, pin up girls, etc.. So does art reflect life or vice versa is something I am always asking myself! I got lucky on this venture, and found a really cool artist who does amazing artwork out of Brazil. With his permission I have started doing some of his designs in embroidery, here is my first of a series I will do.. let me know what you think and please don't copy images.
I have been on a huge kick with embroidery lately.. it is just so much fun, and I enjoy the artistic freedom with it. I did another Sailor Jerry pin up girl but I have been kinda going for the more complicated designs and trying to tackle things that seem more of a challenge. let me know what ya think!
I have wanted to stitch this for two years now but have been too overwhelmed by all the busy lines on the design.. after knocking out Sew Lovely's tattooed girl, I thought I am ready! Hope you like her as much as I do!
So I have always been really intimidated to do a huge sampler, but with all the awesome one liners Charlie Sheen has been pumping out I guess I just couldn't resist any longer. I combined the phrase "WINNING" and "It's all about winning" to make the Charlie Sheen Motto on life.. WINNING.. it's all about winning.. Hope you guys love it as much as I do!
I tried to make her different as much as possible.. I did this piece for a friend of mine who is a piercer here in detroit.. it will be hanging in her office! it truly is a labor of love and I wish I could keep her, hahaha.. let me know what you think!?
here are a few close ups of the piece.. some process shots of after I finished the metallic thread..
I would have to say the thing I love most about embroidery is when you think you have messed up on a pattern, you truly haven't.. you have just made it one of a kind! This design is a little off base from the original design, my eyes are bad and the transfer didn't transfer dark enough.. haha
and here is a close up while I was still working on the piece
This is a piece I stitched for a friend.. The artwork is by Jose Pulido, who is an awesome artist that day of the deads everything.. from Elvis to Johnny Cash to George Washington. He also did a Star Wars series which are so awesome! I had a hard time deciding which one to stitch but the Chewbacca was screaming, stitch me! Maybe it is all those lines? Either way A LOT of fun.. Let me know what you think
Finished piece
Not gonna lie, I got excited when I saw the pattern
