1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / sasquatch!! on: November 01, 2009 06:44:30 PM
my son wanted to be sasquatch for halloween. after much swearing about having to sew 3-inch fur, here is the result:
hercules makes a cameo in this shot

i wish my photography were better

here are the feet

action shot

in his natural habitat

the costume is just a pair of pants and a pullover shirt with a detached hood. it looks more impressive made with fur.
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / basketball jersey to a-line shirt dress on: March 30, 2009 06:29:09 PM
i've had this jersey for about 4 years and never wore it (except to games) because it went to my knees and made me look fatter than i am.  i don't need any help with that, so i used this picture as my inspiration:

the jersey was just a regular basketball jersey, like so:

and working frantically through the night with the help of my cat and beer, i came up with this:

please disregard the poor photography and the fat rolls

3  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Completed Projects / my first weaving project on: February 18, 2009 11:58:04 AM
i made this scarf in a weaving class i took.  its a twill weave that reverses on each warp color.  i'm pretty sure its wool.

its about 60" without the fringe

i was too lazy to de-wrinkle it, but here's a close-up shot of the twill lines

and an action shot.  i was so excited i matched my makeup to the scarf colors

i used probably the world's oldest table loom to make this scarf.  the teacher questioned my choice of colors at first but everyone thought it was pretty rad when it was finished.
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / i have kureyon, now what? on: January 07, 2009 03:38:44 PM
i have 3 balls (300 meters) of kureyon.  what should i do with it?  i'm thinking felted bag, but i'm not sold on the idea.
5  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / what is with the fitted t's in the craftster store? on: January 03, 2009 10:47:27 PM
wouldn't it be great if the craftster store sold t-shirts for us fat girls too?  i'd certainly buy one, and i can't be the only one.
6  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 30 ENTRIES / zebra knife cozy on: September 02, 2008 01:28:35 PM
i like to make some pretty tacky items, so i have some tacky scraps left over. i give you the butcher knife cozy.  my photograpy is terrible, but the irony is there.

and the after

i forgot to mention that the zebra print is actually furry, but my bad pics don't really show that.
7  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / good "big boy" quilt pattern? on: July 24, 2008 04:05:19 PM
no, not bob's big boy, like where dr. evil was frozen and mr. bigglesworth lost all his hair.  my 7 yr old son wants me to make him a quilt, as bob the builder is now too baby for him.  any suggestions on patterns?  i figure i'll find a pattern and take him to the fabric store and let him go wild.
8  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / empire state pigeon on: July 21, 2008 11:51:52 AM
i took a photo of this pigeon seconds before another obnoxious tourist scared him away.  i think he needs a name.  any suggestions?

and then here's the ubiquitous shot of the building itself

and of the tower- i like this one, very ominous

9  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / 2 color self portrait on: July 17, 2008 04:42:01 PM
i'll begin by saying i'm not a painter, but i wish i were.  i used a photo editor to take a picture and reduce it to 2 colors, then i copied it in acrylic, light and dark violet.

here's the original photo:

the images aren't really mirrored, i had to take the finished project pic with my webcam-hence the poor quality.
10  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / knitted chuck taylors on: May 26, 2008 01:23:53 PM
i posted this in knitting, but since they're also shoes, i put them here as well.
i found a pitifully ugly pair of slip-on camouflage all-stars and was inspired to help them.
unfortunately, i had to use my phone to take the pics.
