Nevermind. Found it.
2  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Gory Halloween makeup? Oh yeah. on: November 04, 2008 07:50:19 PM
So, as always, Halloween snuck up on me this year, leaving me with limited costume options.
I opted to try my hand at gory makeup, and much to my surprise - I had a little bit of luck.
We threw my brother a 21st birthday party/costume bash and I did his makeup as well. Wish I had better pictures of that..

Shame on my boyfriend for not wearing a costume. Shaaame.

Applying my makeup in class.

You can't really tell, but he had a bullet hole in one side of his head, a black eye, and then this really gross infected gash on his chin.

I only wish I had known that getting of molding wax was a pain.  Undecided

5  California / California: South / Boyfriend-friendly LA craft stops? on: October 15, 2008 06:36:12 PM
Hi Crafters! This is one of my first posts after many, many years of constant lurking.  Grin

I'm visiting LA November 21st - November 24th with my boyfriend. It's both of our first times going, so we're completely clueless as to what to do.
I'd love to take a stop at a great craft/fabric store in LA.
I have a few setbacks though:
     1. We will be without car and completely dependent on the metro.
     2. Unfortunately, my boyfriend is craft-challenged, so it can't be a long stop unless there's something around to keep him busy.

A few other questions:
- We'd like to stay downtown, and have been looking at The Cecil Hotel (trying to keep it cheap and central). Has anyone heard anything about The Cecil? All of the reviews I've read online were good and pretty legit. If not, any suggestions?

- We would also love to take a day and ride the subway to a beach town, lounge and eat good Mexican food. What's our best bet?

- Is Santee Alley worth the trip?

- Last question, I swear. My boyfriend has agreed to take me out to one nice, romantic dinner (kinda roughin' it all the other nights), any favorites?

We're pretty much open to anything. We haven't planned anything for the four days that we're gonna be in town, but we'd like to have some idea as to what we're doing.

- Alana

This is beautifully done! I did a charcoal self portrait as my final project and it drove me crazy. But, for details, I used charcoal pencils. I'm not sure if you use them or not, but they helped me a lot.

I love working with lino, though it makes my forearms HUGE! These are great. I love them all.

This is beautiful! You did a wonderful job. The carving, colors, design. Everything.
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: My first project.. ever? on: March 01, 2007 01:49:52 PM
Ninzip - I did indeed use a sewing machine, as well as a serger for some of the waistband, but I think it would be just as easy with a regular ol' one. The only thing I own from Anthropologie is a 300 some-odd$ skirt. Ooo-eey. I never wear it. Shame. Sad

Awe, thank you guys so much.

And, to Rozekitten - The skirt isn't lined, there's only one piece of fabric on the bottom. The top is the same material, it has just enough polyester in it to give it the right stretch, and it's two pieces of it sewn together (and I folded it down and sewed over it to hide the crappy job I did sewing on the gathers, so really it's like 4 layers.)
