31  Can it be? Pillsbury vegan frosting? (pics) in Vegetarian / Vegan by Mishymishy on: September 13, 2007 10:27:44 PM
I'm vegetarian, not vegan but my sister is vegan. I was frosting some cupcakes and I looked at the ingredients and they look vegan to me. Can someone confirm that I'm not looking over some super sneaky non-vegan ingredient?

32  My wonky lion of shaaame in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Mishymishy on: September 01, 2007 01:48:46 AM
Last year, one of my best coworker friends was moving away Sad I wanted to give him a going away gift. He was a missionary in Africa and went on safari and I KNEW he liked lions so I tried to make him one.

yeah, making lions with the basic amigurumi pattern on crochetme.com doesn't work. Especially when you don't know how to crochet too well.

Seriously. SO WONKY. Really awful. I laugh whenever I see the wonky lion picture. Im told he looks rastafarian. My friend really liked him though!  Grin

33  Teddy bear birfday gift in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Mishymishy on: September 01, 2007 01:42:06 AM
The same niece who got the wonky crochet bikini last year (see my other thread) is now turning TWO tomorrow. My sister and I got her a tricycle but I had started making her a teddy bear for her birthday last year and I figured I should finish it. I got the pattern off the lion brand site. Thanks for looking Smiley

34  Baby bikini. No, seriously, babies TOTALLY need bikinis. in Crochet: Completed Projects by Mishymishy on: September 01, 2007 01:38:13 AM
When my niece turned 1 last september, her (celebrity hairdresser) mother naturally wanted to plan a celebration. What better way to celebrate your firstborn's first birthday than on a private beachhouse in Malibu?  Roll Eyes Anyway, she needed a bikini for the bebe so she asked me to make her one. I was just learning to crochet at the time and I couldn't find a pattern so I kind of winged it.  Now that I know a little more now I wish I could do it over, and BETTER but oh well. On to pics!

Back of bottom to accomodate diaper wearing bebe's. For some insane reason, I cannot find the pic I took of the top

You can kind of see the top here:

Anyway, I'm not insanely happy with it but it got compliments so I guess I did ok. Thanks for looking  Smiley

36  Lazy people stew with like, pictures. in Vegetarian / Vegan by Mishymishy on: August 22, 2007 10:36:33 PM
I invented this on Sunday because I was lazy. I don't know if it's even really a stew, but it's easy and yummy and it works. Maybe next time I will make it on a day it is not 95 degrees outside.  Grin I'm sure a non vegetarian version would be easy to make too.

Ingredients (pictured)

-1 bag of frozen stew vegetables. My bag o' veggies had onions, potatoes, carrots, and celery.
-1 bag of frozen broccoli. I like broccoli florets but there was a sale on the ones with the stalks attatched. Im a sucker for cheap.
-1 can of corn, drained
-1 veggie boullion cube
-2 cans of vegetable broth
-1 1/2 cans of water
-seasoning salt (season to taste)
-pico de gallo powder (season to taste... it was in my cabinet so i tried it Smiley )
-1 cup uncooked brown rice (which I believe equals 3 cups cooked rice)

Lazy cooking directions:
1) Make the rice according to the instructions on the bag. The rice I used took about 45-50 mins to cook.
2)While the rice is cooking, throw the remaining ingredients (minus seasoning and pico de gallo) in a big pot. Cover and leave it on medium-ish heat. Stir every once and a while, but you don't have to stand over it or anything
3) When the rice has 10-15 minutes remaining, season your stew. It should be simmering, if not, up the heat before seasoning.
4) When the rice is ready, throw it in the stew. Stir it all up. Then eat. yay!

Any comments or suggestions are welcome. I kinda made this up as I went along so Im sure there's probably a way to cook the rice IN the stew and stuff, but I have no idea how Smiley

38  My first sewing project: a basic apron in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Mishymishy on: July 07, 2007 06:13:03 PM
I haven't sewn anything besides criss cross coasters, but my cousins housewarming is tonight. She is on a baking kick so I thought I would make her an apron Smiley I made up the "design" (if you can call it that!) myself, no patterns. It probably wouldve been a bit better had I known how to do darts, but oh well.

Its reversible!

The green side...

The pink side!

Sorry for the dark pics, my camera sucks. Thanks for looking!

39  Need MAJOR help for a costume chest !! (VERY img heavy, 9 pics) in Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions by Mishymishy on: January 28, 2007 02:10:14 PM
(note to mod: I wasnt sure if this topic should go here or in the recycled board so if I posted it in the wrong one, feel free to move it)

My cousin bought a costume chest at a flea market in pretty good condition with the intent of refinishing it and making it pretty for my niece. Its pretty big (22 in wide, 36 in high, 20 in deep) so she left it outside. It ended up sitting outside through the winter rains (we live in So. California so it wasnt snow or anything but still got a lot of rain). She was gonna throw it out but I said I would take it and at least TRY to save it so she gave it to me. When I picked it up last night it was dark and now that its light, I see how bad it truly is. Lots of warped wood, rust, and mold. Ive never fixed ANYTHING like this or refinished a piece of wood so any tips on how to salvage this would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Im thinking I need to replace most of the wood and maybe I can decoupage it? Again, Im lost, please help!
