4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / cable knitting throw on: January 21, 2008 10:24:34 PM
After a couple of scarfs, I was ready for some thing bigger..........I decided to make a knitted throw since it's getting pretty cold. Half way through, I was like... I could've been done with a scarf 3 TIMES Shocked, but no, I'm just half way through my throw. Tongue
Anyways, here's my first time tackling a big knitting project

flat on my bed

my chair modeling my throw

I got the pattern from lion brand. I haven't block it yet because I don't know where I would be able to do it on ...
In total I used about 101/2 skein of yarn and it took me about 4 weeks. I really like the color. It's a nice natural oatmeal color.

I didn't check the gauge because I was too lazy (I know, I know @_@), now I wish I did because my stitches are just a touch too loose ... good thing it's not really noticeable.

I hope you guys like it. comments?

this is very very beautiful. love the color and the little flowers. I hear u on the baby sister situation. It totally reminded me of my little sister Wink Hey, it's great that she has a crafty older sister like you.
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Everday tote bag on: January 20, 2008 11:20:48 PM
just want to clarify. I've hand sew for a few years now, working on small quit purses and coin purses, but never big tote and never sewing machine. I'm still a little scared of the sewing machine since I'm more comfortable hand sewing, but this will change soon Smiley

Looks really great! You've inspired me to stop dragging my feet and make the tote I've been intending to make for... well, a few weeks now... OK, maybe months. Anyway, I love how the peachy lining pops out of the neutral outside. Good job!

lol, well it took me nearly a year to get my lazy bum together to make this bag so you're still way ahead of your game Wink

if you want a bag to stand up but don't want to (or can't - i have that problem, too), try sew-in boning. it usually comes in black or white, and you sew it onto the seam allowance (instead of cutting it out). gives a good "skeleton" to the bag and good support.

Thanks for the advise. this will really help me on my next bag. Since I've only done quilt purses before, I'm not at all familiar with making bag stand up on itself. This is good to know.

I love all of the pockets and the zipper closure.  Great job!!!!!!!!!!

I'm always looking for pockets and zipper pockets on bags when I buy them... now I think I overload myself on pockets for this one Tongue
