2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / tissue holder with zipper on: November 08, 2007 05:00:06 PM

would anyone here know how to make a tissue holder-pouchy thing with a zipper down the middle?

something like this....

but with a zipper down the middle where the opening is.

does anyone know if there is a tutorial around somewhere that i might have missed?  or someone could just explain it to me?

i know it  shouldnt be too hard to do, but its late and im tired and i cannot possibly figure this out!

thank you!
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / help with simplicity 3882 on: June 08, 2007 12:51:04 PM

i nevvvvver use patterns, in fact i never have used one at all, i just think of my own ideas or see something and try to copy it.

but this is where my problem is.   ive seen a lot of simplicity 3882 dresses and really have admired dress c  but for some reason i just could not picture how it was made.  so i bought the pattern, thinking it should be pretty easy, lots of people buy patterns

(its the reddish one on the bottom)

boy was i wrong.

i managed to make the front of the bodice but after that i became sooo lost. the directions and pieces for the back of the bodice seem ridiculously small to me and im really confused about the elastic that goes around the waist.

if anyone has made this dress at all, help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!!

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / lovely summer dress. on: May 17, 2007 08:38:15 AM

my new summer dress that i am so completely proud of....

its really long..... im gonna shorten it up, just not sure how far yet.....

maybe like this?  (with less bubble in it)

and heres a closeup of the shirred (?) front

and the back

the straps look crooked but they're really not, it just looks that way because of the way I'm holding the camera (i guess?? lol) oh, and the extras of the straps are hanging in the back, i have yet to cut them, but my camera dies before i could take more...oh well.

oh and i havent ironed it yet, so it looks kinda wrinkly in some areas.  and it was my first time using the elastic thread, so its not perfect but i still love it.   just cant wait for it to get warm out so i can wear it!

comments please!   and criticism as well

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Florida temperatures--how will i survive?! on: May 14, 2007 09:39:04 PM

hi--

so im going to florida in august for about a week and im having a bit of a clothing dilemma (even though its kinda early for one!)

my question is--- what types of clothes can i wear there that won't make me sweat immensely?  im bringing lots of tank tops but i want some things to cover up with, so i wont burn in the hot hot sun. are there any good ideas for little cardigans or buttonup/zip up hoodies or tees??

so all you florida girls (or any one who lives in 90 degree weather, can you help??

thanks!

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / i <3 hearts on: February 08, 2007 11:41:17 AM
heres my newest bag, that i absolutely loooove. perfect for valentines day!!   (sorry, the pics are kinda huge!)

me modeling it, against my very pink wall

close up of the hearts (the picture doesnt show them very well, i tried zooming in with my camera, but they ended up looking like blobs, so this is the best i could get--sorry!)

and the inside....(with lipgloss and gum  Smiley )

i got the fabric from my local thrift store. it was an old pillowcase, i believe.  and the dark red material is a sheet i found there too.   i have tons more of both of these fabrics so i have to start looking for something else to make with it all.

comments would be great!

kthnx
