1  Re: Anything Amigurumi Swap II GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by angeltreats on: July 12, 2009 03:25:46 AM
Mysticflower received my package so I thought I might as well post a photo I took before sending Smiley  I made two tiny amis, a pig and a bear, and two little bottlecap pincushions as extras.

I really enjoyed this swap - thanks to Mysticflower for being a great partner and to Julieboolie for being a great organiser Grin

I received from Mysticflower!  She made Jiji from Kiki's Delivery Service, actually for my husband who has been asking for one for a Jiji for ages.  He's knitted rather than crocheted and is very cute.

Here he is snuggling up with Pokey, and above is a Kiki's Delivery Service poster, you can see the "real" Jiji hanging from the broomstick!

And here he is hanging out on the windowsill.

Thanks Mysticflower, and thanks for the cute stickers too, they'll be decorating my sketchbook Cheesy

3  Socks for my dad's birthday in Knitting: Completed Projects by angeltreats on: June 09, 2009 12:35:21 AM
My dad is 74 on Friday!  Even though it's summer, he lives in Ireland where it's never really warm so I made him some cozy socks for his birthday present.  I'm posting them off today, I hope he likes them!

The yarn is a Kaffe Fassett design for Regia and was lovely to use.

I finally received today from Littlebiskit - it took longer than usual because of the Easter holiday and no postal service, but it was definitely worth the wait!

One of my themes was Roald Dahl, and Littlebiskit went with that and used the book The BFG (one of my favourites when I was younger, although I haven't read it for a long time - I'm going to the library tomorrow to see if I can find it and read it again).

The BFG catches dreams in bottles, and carries around an old battered suitcase.  So Littlebiskit made me a BFG suitcase, complete with bottled dreams!

The inside - there are some quotes from the book and lovely glass marbles (unfortunately one red one didn't quite make it in one piece!)

The little bottled dreams - I love these so much Grin

Thank you so much Littlebiskit, I really love it!

Thanks also to Perlabella for organising.  This was such a great swap Cheesy

I received from Niina Maria today!  Here are the photos:

Everything

Eggies!

Contents of the eggies (she sent the plastic organiser too)

Clock (I'm so sorry about the awful photo, I photographed this last and the light had gone by the time I got the clock face assembled).  I'm going to put this in the kitchen, just as soon as I can find a nail to hang it from.

Cool fabric container that I'm going to keep my paints in

There was also chocolate biscuits (I was saving them for easter but my husband has opened them and eaten one!), Moomin sweets (eaten!), nice purple roving that I'm going to make felted beads out of, Finland cocktail stick flags, grass seeds (the sort that cats like - my two moggies will love it), a little wooden tray and a reflector that I'll put in my bike.  Oh and some cool paper.  I hope I didn't forget anything.

Thanks for everything Niina Maria!

A while ago I made Neil the chicken.  He was lonely so I made him a little friend - this is Stephen!  Here he is with his little pal.

I wrote the pattern on my blog in case anyone would like to make one for Easter, the link is HERE

Hope you like him!

Here's Filbert with his goodies  He arrived home with a new scarf (I think made by Hollister?) and a cool bag and necklace with his name on it (not sure who made these, but I suspect Ruby!), and bsonlytoots sent some Disney goodies along with him.

Here he is with all his goodies and his new bag:

And here is my very naughty cat trying to steal what's in the Disney bag!  (Because you see anything in that bag, or anywhere else in this house, belongs to her.)

I have scanned all the photos from his album and also uploaded everything from a CD Ewulotta sent along and they're all on my Flickr if anyone wants to have a look.  There's some really good ones in there Smiley

Thanks so much to Hollister and to everyone who Filbert stayed with, he had a great time!

9  Re: Sewing book recommendations for beginners in Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions by angeltreats on: February 06, 2009 08:01:10 AM
Has anyone bought or seen The Sewing Book (published by Dorlng Kindersley) yet?  It's just been published but I saw it for about 1/3 of RRP and ordered a copy for my friend's birthday, but it was kind of a "hope for the best" purchase and I'm hoping it'll be good.

If anyone from the UK is interested, the place I got it so cheaply was The Book People.

Thank you all for your comments!

Ally-oops - no it wasn't hard to make at all, basically I just crocheted a ball, a stalk and a couple of leaf shapes, embroidered on a mouth and glued on some felt rosy cheeks Grin

I made him a little friend.  I need to get some orange yarn and make an orange to add to the fruity family!
