Good fabric choice.

Fixed it- haha. I was a bit tired when I wrote that comment. I meant that the high contrast of the tan and brown tones give it a very modern look. I was thinking that using all shades of blue would not pull this off as well.

This is my (belated) mother's day gift. I found the purple silk flower (with plastic fern attached) in an alley, and was inspired to be crafty with it! I found the scratched up old CD on a sidewalk, and the wine bottle was in our recycling Smiley I settled on an "E" because my mother has that monogrammed all over the house, but I bet you could use the CD pieces to do pretty abstract designs.

The bottle already had the blue at the top, and I decided to leave that on because it was pretty Smiley My roommate cut off the blue packaging covering the cork very cleanly, so it didn't look messy.

Before I glued on the larger pieces, I roughed up the glasses with a nail file. I don't know if this step was necessary, I just wanted the mosaic to be extra secure, since it's a gift. The smaller pieces seemed to stay on pretty well on their own.

When I was finished, the bottle had smudges of superglue on it, which I cleaned off using q-tips with acetone (and scraped it with my fingernails.) Unfortunately, the superglue made some of the CD pieces cloudy, and the acetone didn't remove the smudges. I think if I did this again, I would use tweezers to place the pieces on the bottle, since my fingers were covered in super glue and left the grody superglue residue on supposed-to-be-shiny pieces.

I'm thinking about putting something in it, like marbles or sand. What do you guys think?

I like how nicely tailored you were able to get this dress, since it was hand tailored for your own body. Smiley I think I should make a dress like that, most of my summer dresses are quite loose, and I have to belt them to attempt give the dress some suggestion of a flattering shape.

I like the cut out back Smiley it's subtlely sexy.

I love that you threw in a couple tan squares and more dark brown squares. I have a feeling that curtains made solely from blue denim would look very dated.

and I forgot to add how amazing those buttons are! Buttons are always cute, but kicked it up a notch by choosing buttons that fit in with the pattern of the fabric (the white circles.)

Soooo cute! I love how you took this dress from conservative old school blah to adorable and trendy Smiley The length you have it at is perfect and the sleeve ruffles are adorable.

Wow! I love that you sewed your own wedding dress, and it being black and gorgeous on top of that?!! You should consider submitting the photos to offbeat bride if you intend to show off some more, your dress and creative bouquet would fit right in there Smiley the website is offbeatbride.com.
