1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / my first project! love bear on my pajamas (now improved!) on: February 23, 2009 07:41:01 AM
ok my first attempt wasn't that interesting, so I added some scenery to my love bear.  a little pink roofed house and foliage makes for a much more hospitable living space on my scrubs.

My original post:

This is my first project.  I took this picture with my webcam because it's not worth getting out my camera for.  Some of the stitches are wonky and I'm not sure why I tried satin stitching on my first try, but I think the overall effect is cute.  i love this little guy.  The pattern is from Badbird's.

I think I should add to it, like with flowers or hearts or something.  any suggestions would be awesome!
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / What material do you buy for embroidery? on: February 20, 2009 07:21:58 PM
I'm ready to make the cross over from x-stitch to free hand embroidery.  I'm dizzy with the freedom of not counting!  haha.

My question seems like such a newbie question to me but I couldn't find an answer in the stickies or by searching.  What kind of material do I buy?  I mean if I wanted to go to the fabric store, what would I be looking for?  100% cotton?  Linen?  should I just cut up tea towels?  (that seems like the easiest way to start.)

Thanks!  Sorry if I've repeated an old topic.
