4  Vogue 1174 Cynthia Steffe 50s style in pink flamingos! in Sewing Pattern Reviews by paulinerose on: February 08, 2012 07:15:45 PM
I couldnt wait to post pics of this even though it inst done. I have to make the liner still. Overall this is a really easy pattern for a vogue, although I made some adjustments. It called for a liner plus a corset type foundation, which is basically a second bodice piece. I really didnt see the need for 3 layers of bodice fabric so I plan to put the boning onto the lining like I have with other dresses and Im sure it will be fine. Also you couldnt tell by the photo that the skirt is actually sewn on top of the bodice, so it calls for making a skirt facing just as if i made seperate pieces and thats not what I wanted. so I skipped that to and just sewed the bodice to the skirt. Sometimes I dont know who makes these patterns or the directions! LOL It also called for piping on the bodice side seams but I didnt want that look so I left it out. Im also going to do the piping along the top edge bodice seam.

I was dissapointed the skirt isnt as full as i hoped it would be as I intended this to be for VLV this year and wanted to do a full petticoat under but I think I will just to two layers of tulle attached to the bottom of the liner. I'll update this tomorrow when its all done. But overall I think it still looks 50s. What to you think? And please excuse my hair!!

5  Precious Moments Diaper bag Set in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by paulinerose on: September 17, 2011 11:44:55 PM
I had this vintage border print and now that my first daughter is having her first daughter I am crazy about making baby stuff right now! LOL I had just enough of this for the bag and I also made a toddler dress. Im thinking of editing it though because i know for a diaper bag it doesnt have very many pockets but I have trouble making bags with a side band so I make them the easy way (lol!) What do you think?

8  scrappy the owl in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by paulinerose on: March 18, 2011 02:16:12 AM
I made this owl from a 1970s pattern. It came out pretty good. But after I finished it revised the pattern a bit and made a few more owls. I like the second design better. What do you think? I might change it a bit more. These are fun to make and I use all the scraps from my serger as stuffing! So its 100% recycled!

This is the third one. I made the eyes and tummy a bit smaller. I also changed the beak. So which one looks best?

Thanks for looking!

I dont know why... lol but in any case I finished it so fast, like a day and a half (not straight haha) and I am also making a second which is almost done. I will post pics soon. It is threads pattern 2591 I used a vintage lace on the skirt over the satin.
