2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / divine cowl! on: January 13, 2009 09:22:31 PM
A little while back, I won some yarn from a blog giveaway here: http://peasoupoftheday.blogspot.com/

I had no idea what to do with it. 300 yards of superwash wool? I didn't want to just simply make another hat, oh no- this yarn was special. I carried this yarn in my purse for weeks on end, just hoping that one of the zillion times I had to dig in my purse for my wallet or keys would magically grant me realization of what to do with this yarn. I tossed around a few ideas here and there, but nothing really seemed appropriate. Until a few days ago, that is. My plan came through fruition on Sunday afternoon, while spending some time at my Dad's house.
I give you, the Divine Cowl.

decided to use a stitch pattern from rheatheylia: http://www.rheatheylia.com/index.php?page=patterns&id=0 to work it's magic. I just sort of started in the middle of the pattern, after making a starting chain and slip stitching into the first chain to make a loop. I did not expect the yarn to line up colors like this, but after the second round I noticed what it was doing, so I tried to keep my tension steady so as to continue what it was doing.

Isn't that just magic???
3  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Completed Projects / recent dye jobs on: January 08, 2009 10:03:38 PM
These are some merino rovings I dyed using food coloring and vinegar-

1.)

Easter Sunday (aren't the colors just so spring?) about 3.75 oz.

2.)

Sneaking Suspicion- about 3.75 oz as well. I just loooove the colors on this one. so vibrant! the blues and greens sort of flow together to make a wonderful aqua.. oh man!

3.) I got a set of acid dyes (woo big girl dyes!) for Christmas but i've only dyed a couple of things and haven't taken pictures of everything yet. But here's one i managed to get some good pics of.

Rosy Red- this one is only about half an ounce. I'll probably use it to mix with something in the future.

let me know what you guys think!

I made another little owl with a heart on its tummy because that's adorable! about three inches tall.

not as washed out!

I also made a little hamster head. although everyone seems to think it's a bear Undecided ah well. i'm really proud of the ears though, first real 3d apendage that wasn't part of the main body fabric!

and another angle (he's about oh, 2x3 inches)
