The pattern itself wasn't difficult to follow, but I changed it so much, that it was more like a guideline Smiley

Thank you guys!  Cheesy
Nicole.Amina, yes I did alter it, but actually not because it would've been too large, but because it was going to be so tight that I couldn't get it over my head. I don't know if I did something wrong... after the bodice is finished, the pattern tells to continue with the set-up round and work "1 sc in the row edge of every other row, working only in the "valleys" of the ribbing". That gave me a set-up round that was too tight so I had to add more stitches to make it wider.

I've finished the bodice today. I've made so many mistakes I can't even remember  Grin and I've spent a whole lot of time fixing them.

I hope you both are able to start this soon!

Oh, and Sappho, I think your idea of making body pieces front and back separate is brilliant! It actually made me pick up the yarn again and start over! I'm halfway through the front piece and it's looking so good! Grin

Thank you Sappho! It's good to know that my way wasn't all wrong, it was just wrong for this dress  Smiley

Oh I'm so depressed right now. It looks like I have to rip it out again, the whole piece (I had both the front panel and the shoulder panel finished already) because of the first row after the chain in the very beginning. When you start the front panel of the bodice half, you make a chain, than you sc in second ch and in each ch across. That's where I went wrong. I usually make my sc stitches into the chain by inserting the hook under both strands of the "v" which I thought was the most usual way to do this. The problem is, I should've used the way that's called "Backdoor Betty" in Happy Hooker, because when starting the back panel, you have to crochet into the back loop of the foundation chain, but my usual way doesn't leave me any back loops. It leaves me only one loop.

The other thing that confused me, was the sizing.

Finished size: bust circumference: 32 (34, 36, 38, 40)" to fit bust sizes 30 (32, 34, 36, 38)". The dress is designed with negative ease. Shouldn't it be the other way around then or am I getting it all wrong?

I think I might try to crochet the bodice without middle seam if I'll start it again. I don't really understand this seam in the middle.

I would probably go with some cotton or cotton blend yarn for the same reason you mentioned. Although the color you have in mind (wine red), sounds really good for this dress!  Smiley
