1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Make your own dressform! (super img heavy) on: January 05, 2008 08:38:01 PM
kayak girl and I have been talking about making our own dressforms (based on threadbanger easy podcast tutorial )for a while and we finally got around to doing mine.

It's amazingly simple and everyone should really make one. Just start by putting on an old shirt (It has to be really long or just use a piece of fabric to extend it) and have your friend wrap you in duct tape

Wrap around your torso but when you get to the chest area, start going up and down.
Excuse my weirdness...

Do a couple layers...

Cut it off you (avoid your actual shirt or you next project will be patching) Cheesy

tape the back up

and if you stuff it you're done.

But I went to my local thrift store and got a lamp base to stick it on during stuffing. So here it is:

and posing with my hoodie and scarf...

I love it! and it's so useful!

Please comment!

Been floating around in my head for ever but, what about a username swap. Like if your name was Iloveharrypotter, your partner would make you Harry Potter things. Or my partner would make me octipus-themed things. Is anyone interested and/or would anyone be able to organize?

8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Play-dough Rose Pendent *First Post* now with tute on: May 29, 2007 04:51:39 PM
I've been lurking a while but, I just recently got an account.

To make a long story short someone recently gave me some playdough. I was messing around with it and made a flower. I ended up crumpling that but, heres my second try:

Rose (sorry about tthe links)

I created it petal by petal and let it harden for like, two days. I poked the metal thing in first which I got from some scraps of old reconstructed jewelry.  Then I painted it with nail polish. I want it to match my nailpolish at my graduation dance. Smiley

Me holding it
