Boingercat, I used a size K hook, and the yarn is worsted weight. The pattern calls for a much lighter weight (baby or fingering), so I used a larger hook to accomplish the lacy look.

Thank you all for your compliments! A few of you asked about the yarn ... this is what I used: http://www.bernat.com/product.php?LGC=mosaic (in "calypso"). It is a worsted-weight, varigated, acrylic yarn. Turns out very pretty!

I made this very cool rainbow wrap for my sister! It's triangular like a shawl ...

... but can also be a scarf!

Enjoy!

Thank you all so much for your sweet comments!

Nikschaf, that was my thought! I am going to get different slips to wear underneath to give it some colormaybe a burgundy or navy blue.

Thanks for your compliments, everyone! Craftrica, it took me about two weeks to do. After working the shoulders and armholes, it's done entirely in one piece, so it goes pretty fast. (I had some difficulty finding a length I likedat first the dress dropped down to mid-calf, which was not flattering. So I frogged it to the waist and redid it. Much better!)

P.S. When I told people I was making my own dress, they asked if I'd be making my husband's tux. Guess that's my project for when we renew our vows.

Thanks, everyone! We wanted a low-key, DIY wedding, so making my own dress seemed the obvious choice!

I made my own wedding dress!

The pattern is the Midnight Lace Dress by Doris Chan, published in the March 2008 issue of Crochet! magazine. I used an ivory/white worsted weight cotton, and it took me about two weeks. Instead of running the ribbon through the neck, I opted for more of a flapper look and wore it low on my hips. (It seemed to give more shape that way.)

Thank you for letting me share!
