2  UNITED STATES / Hawaii / Re: Thought we might introduce ourselves... on: March 01, 2008 11:03:25 AM
i'm moving to hawaii in a couple of weeks. i'll plan to live in central oahu.

i haven't been crafting too much for the last few months because i've been living temporarily in baltimore and dc for work. all my stuff is back in a storage shed in missouri. i was learning how to sew, knit on looms (not too much of a need for it anymore i guess, with average temps in the 80s), making buttons/pins, and other random stuff. i'm not an expert in any of them and love learning new ones.

can't wait to get to hawaii though and get addicted to craftster again Smiley
3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / lots of free magazines--crystal city, washington dc area on: February 14, 2008 08:39:53 AM
Hi Lovely Paper Crafters--

I work at Soldiers Media Center where they publish Soldiers Magazine and they have BOXES of them about to be thrown away. I'm ashamed to say that I bet they aren't even going to be recycled...just put in a dumpster.

I was talking to some people and we think it's kind of silly not to give them away and I know tons of people make crafts out of magazines like magazine bowls so it doesn't even matter what's on the pages.

If you want some free magazines, let me know and maybe we can work something out where you can pick them up one day (probably during the week only). The office is in Crystal City, about a 10 minute walk from the metro stop on 23rd Street.

i dub the round officially over!

i hope the holiday round is going great. i am unfortunately in training for work for 5.5 months and living in hotel-like accommodations with barely any time or space for crafting Sad

This sounds so neat!
Quick question- you know those little kiddie coloring books? What kind of ink are they printed in? I would love to try this technique out, but I have an inkjet.

just go to an office place and photocopy the pages you like Smiley

those are great and they give me a great idea for my dad! i missed his birthday last month.

(and in case anyone else wants an idea, my parents live in japan where great ideas come from, like special washcloths people carry with them simply to wipe the sweat off their brow, or dry your hands after you wash them. my dad sweats easily while golfing, and i can do the same thing for him, with face-washcloths.)

i wonder if people use handkerchiefs  to wipe sweat too. i always feel they're for wiping one's nose.
