21  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Dog Swap sign-ups 7/11-7/21 sendouts 8/21 on: July 19, 2008 06:22:32 AM
Thanks, GatorWrangler, I was wondering how to do that too.  I've fallen to the peer pressure, Aubie has a wist too!  Smiley

I told my husband about it, and he thinks I'm a total dork.
22  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Pirate Carrot! My first embroidery project. on: July 19, 2008 06:10:23 AM
I've been a cross-stitcher for many years, but embroidery always scared me- I didn't think I could stitch evenly. But I finally got over my anxiety and made this embroidery for my...husband.  Yeah, he may be a grown man, but he still tries to get out of eating his veggies at dinner.  I plan on putting this very intimidating pirate carrot in our dining room.

I know my lettering needs work, but overall I'm pleased with how this turned out.

23  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Fill-A-Box Round 8!! (Closed 10:22 PM EST 7/31 - Sendouts 8/23) (US only) on: July 18, 2008 03:10:05 PM
Ok here's my detailed list:

Have: Scrapbook paper, stickers, greeting cards, paint chips, random ephemera, books, yarn, crochet hooks, markers, Christmas fabric (FQ and 6" squares), regular fabric (FQ and 6" squares), buttons, beads, elastic

Wants: Fabric! My main craft is quilting so I love all types of fabric.  Also, I just started to embroider so any thread or patterns would be awesome.

I just sent my info. in!  I have a lot of fabric, some yarn and some scrapbook paper/ephemera.  Hopefully someone's interested.

Everyone's dogs are SO cute.  DesignVigilante, you should definitely join, this swap seems like it's going to be a blast.

Ok, now to shamelessly show off my doggie.

This is Aubie. Her story is actually similar to yours, DesignVigilante.  I found her on petfinder.com.  She was in a Georgia pound and I was down south visiting Auburn University (thus the name).  She was in a high-kill shelter and it was her last day to live.  I had to snatch her up.  Aubie came with NO records. I've had her for almost 2 months now and since then she's had: fleas, ticks, kennel cough, UTI, ringworm and hookworm. Despite all that, she's still the nicest dog EVER.

26  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: Post Photos of Your Tattoos! on: July 14, 2008 12:18:13 PM
This is my third, and favorite, tattoo.  It's on my left inner forearm.  The picture is an illustration from the book The Trumpet of the Swan by E.B. White.  It's the first book my dad read to me, so it's really special to me.

Sorry for the blurriness.

27  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Simple X-stitch for my SO on: July 14, 2008 12:04:44 PM
I wanted to make something special for my husband for Christmas.  Unfortunately, I only really specialize in "granny crafts" (cross stitch, quilling, quilting) so I didn't know what to do.  I decided to stich a little picture of us as stick figures.  It's really basic, and could easily be personalized by changing the hair and faces.

Best of all, it was super easy and came together quickly.

Here's us in x-stitch

...and in real life
28  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Pajama pants leg? on: July 14, 2008 11:49:40 AM
So yesterday I was wearing my husband's favorite pair of pj pants  (I think he's had them for 6 years now) and I accidently ripped them at the knee.  I think he's a little crushed and I feel guilty.  I'd like to make something with the detached leg piece, but I don't know what.  The leg is about a foot tall.  Did I mention that they're an awesome penguin print?

Suggestions are appreciated!

I'm thinking about bumping the signup/send out date so we have a bit more crafting time and such, is that okay with everyone?

That's fine with me... I'm really excited to start.
