1  German map fabric? in What the heck can I do with THIS? by kiden2 on: August 30, 2008 06:38:26 AM
So I was at a flea market the other day and I came upon this fabric with the map of Germany on it.  It was $7 and so awesome that I had to buy it. On the map all the cities are illustrated with their famous buildings.  And on the border are the crests of each city.

Now, I'm not sure what to do with it.  This thing is HUGE (3' x 4') and the fabric is really flimsy- almost like a tshirt material.  I was thinking of just hanging it on a wall, but I'm worried that the fabric isn't strong enough...

So two questions:

Does anyone know a good way to hang this?

-or-

What else can I do with it>

5  Pirate Carrot! My first embroidery project. in Needlework: Completed Projects by kiden2 on: July 19, 2008 06:10:23 AM
I've been a cross-stitcher for many years, but embroidery always scared me- I didn't think I could stitch evenly. But I finally got over my anxiety and made this embroidery for my...husband.  Yeah, he may be a grown man, but he still tries to get out of eating his veggies at dinner.  I plan on putting this very intimidating pirate carrot in our dining room.

I know my lettering needs work, but overall I'm pleased with how this turned out.

Everyone's dogs are SO cute.  DesignVigilante, you should definitely join, this swap seems like it's going to be a blast.

Ok, now to shamelessly show off my doggie.

This is Aubie. Her story is actually similar to yours, DesignVigilante.  I found her on petfinder.com.  She was in a Georgia pound and I was down south visiting Auburn University (thus the name).  She was in a high-kill shelter and it was her last day to live.  I had to snatch her up.  Aubie came with NO records. I've had her for almost 2 months now and since then she's had: fleas, ticks, kennel cough, UTI, ringworm and hookworm. Despite all that, she's still the nicest dog EVER.

7  Re: Post Photos of Your Tattoos! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by kiden2 on: July 14, 2008 12:18:13 PM
This is my third, and favorite, tattoo.  It's on my left inner forearm.  The picture is an illustration from the book The Trumpet of the Swan by E.B. White.  It's the first book my dad read to me, so it's really special to me.

Sorry for the blurriness.

8  Simple X-stitch for my SO in Needlework: Completed Projects by kiden2 on: July 14, 2008 12:04:44 PM
I wanted to make something special for my husband for Christmas.  Unfortunately, I only really specialize in "granny crafts" (cross stitch, quilling, quilting) so I didn't know what to do.  I decided to stich a little picture of us as stick figures.  It's really basic, and could easily be personalized by changing the hair and faces.

Best of all, it was super easy and came together quickly.

Here's us in x-stitch

9  Pajama pants leg? in What the heck can I do with THIS? by kiden2 on: July 14, 2008 11:49:40 AM
So yesterday I was wearing my husband's favorite pair of pj pants  (I think he's had them for 6 years now) and I accidently ripped them at the knee.  I think he's a little crushed and I feel guilty.  I'd like to make something with the detached leg piece, but I don't know what.  The leg is about a foot tall.  Did I mention that they're an awesome penguin print?

Suggestions are appreciated!
