21  Re: Fill-a-Matchbox SUPPLY Swap R2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Fluxity on: April 21, 2007 12:00:52 PM
Yesterday, I got my package from alteredmommy!

Tons of little sequins and stars! I especailly love the little tiny mirrors, one haped like a heart and one like a star - and my BF already claimed the skull charm - and told me to make him a necklace out of it!

And the box is beautiful - very classy! It's covered in French (I think) text, and has the prettiest key on the top of it - thank you so much!

Great swap!!!!!!!!!!!! I am already in the process of collecting little doodads for the next one I join!

22  Wait a goll-durn Minute!!!!! in Scrapbooking: Discussion and Questions by Fluxity on: April 15, 2007 11:35:39 PM
I have recently discovered the $1.00 scrapbooking rack at JO-Ann's fabrics - it's like a mini scrapbooking dollar store! Not the biggest variety by any means at all, but nice if you are on a budget.

So I buy some of those vellum sheets with quotes on them - two different packs.

I just took them out to read all the quotes - and in one pack:

And in the other:

Hmmm. Funny how they both said it. NOw I am convinced that the company is just making things up. Which is fine, they're good quotes, but if I use the Plato one and find out that it's actually Dickinson? I cannot describe the guilt I would feel. Seriously.

Pics, as promised!

First, from Lapoli:

First thing I see is the adorable purple mousie - then when I'd emptied the box... cheese for the mouse!

And the contents:

Lots of buttons! I love love love buttons - and the two red square ones look handmade, which is extra super special. And the little owl! So cute!

EDIT - by the way, did you handwrite the note? Because your handwriting is, like, perfect!

And then from Amaryllisrose:

Beautiful box! She even painted the little inside-slidey box gold, too!

Edit #2 - the photo is a little blurry - but the box says "imagine."

The stamps are really neat - what country are they from? The flower-shaped rhinestones are really pretty - and I am going to make a necklace out of the fairy charm as soon as I am done posting this!

Thank you both ladies!

24  Melty cupcakes! in Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs by Fluxity on: April 07, 2007 12:23:49 AM
So, a friend and I are going to start doing the market circuit this spring, and along with our aprons, handbags and other sewn things, my friend would like to have a little display and sell cupcakes.

Our issue is that a lot of the places are outside, and in the summer heat, the icing will melt- any ideas to construct a (very inexpensive) display case that we could put ice under, or something, and it would keep the cakes cool?

We can't afford a little refrigerated case, and we want it to be mostly glass so we can display the cupcake trees - like :

I know that cupcake are more bake-sale, but any ideas?

I didn't have to wait very long, right after I posted, I made myself a deeelicious hot pocket, and behold! Out my kitchen window I see a box on the doorstep!

I abandoned my poor hot pocket in the microwave and came to take pictures!!

Buttons from two of my favorite-est bands:

Gummies (the best brand of gummies, BTW) foamy (giraffe!) stickers and (giraffe!) buttons:

A stenciled tote-bag that will now hold all of the sewing magazines that I compulsively buy - with a giraffe in the corner there (kinda hard to see Mr Giraffe in the picture, but he's there!)

A swap journal that rocks my socks:

A perler project that I am going to bust out as soon as I am done posting:

And, the present that made me actually yell "AWESOME!" to myself, in my empty house:

Thank you thank you Dana! Couldn't have asked for a better swap partner!!!!

** I collect giraffes, if you're wondering. Wink
