3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / I now wear these all the time! on: March 29, 2011 02:44:13 PM
I love elastic beaded bracelets - easy to take on and off and easy/cheap to make. So I have many different colours and styles of them but these are my faves. They are very simple but definitely blings up my outfits. I used to have four - I like the chunky look - but one of my friends "stole" it and won't give it back until I make her a couple bracelets  Wink

4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Asymetrical chain necklace on: March 29, 2011 02:39:31 PM
I like the idea of things being asymetrical - so I made up a necklace. One of my kids from the youth club is wearing it so it's not that long on me - fits quite nicely with a black shirt - I always wear black!

5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / feathers are fun! on: March 29, 2011 02:36:29 PM
I always wear black so I like to use colours in my accessories. And I found some feathers at my work (youth club) so I made up a feather necklace - very simple but with colour!!

(One of my kids wearing the necklace - it's not that long on me....)

There's actually two feathers attached to the chain.
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / bike tire rubber tube thingys on: March 29, 2011 02:14:56 PM
It's been done before but not by me!  Wink So here's my necklaces using bike tire rubber tube thingys - I still need to spray these with hairspray or something else to make them shine.

What do you guys think??
7  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Boring lamp to something super funky? on: January 20, 2011 03:28:19 AM
I got this (free!) lamp from my co-worker and I can definitely see some potential. It's a nice lamp, good quality and I can see exactly where it should hang. (Above my craft/computer/dinner table in the living room....)

BUT - it's just a little too "boring" and "normal" for me. And my living room isn't "normal"!  Grin

I was thinking about paint - on the actual lamp or just on the glass. Or glass decoupage.... But I'm worried that the heat from the light bulbs would be a problem.  Undecided And I just don't exactly know what I would paint....  Undecided

Any ideas?

I'm including a picture of the original lamp with the white glass things that hang out from each arm. The arms are crooked right now but they just have to be moved back into place....

8  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / oops - forgot an intro ;) on: January 19, 2011 03:54:31 PM
I've been a secret lurker here for years and even had the courage to actually post stuff I have made. But... I never introduced myself. Oops! Sorry!

So, here goes...

I'm Annemarie - everyone calls me Rie. I live in Denmark but grew up in Canada. Yay Denmark and Yay Canada! I'm 31 and I'm a crafting geek. I love my geeky-ness qualities and plan on turning into even a bigger crafty geek. I'm a huge dabbler (is that a word?) and I have so many different interests. Luckily, my job lets me dabble ALL the time.... I work at a youth club with a huge, kick*ss, way cool creative workshop - I get paid to dabble! (Yes, I consider myself uber lucky!)

Okay, enough rambling (I tend to ramble....). Just wanted to say hi to all you crafty, wonderful "geeks"! Thank you for all the inspiration and hopefully, in the future, for all the feedback that'll make me into a better GEEK!
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / I kinda made a dressform... (4 semi-large images) on: April 02, 2008 02:25:38 PM
(Sorry if this is in the wrong forum!)

So I've been lurking around craftster and honestly think people have some AMAZING ideas! I have been so inspired and have really gotten back into arts and crafts!

One of the things that really caught my attention was the homemade dressforms. I really really wanted one but just can't afford it right now so I tried making my own after seeing everyone elses. My boyfriend wasn't totally convinced that it would work but he did help me out by taping me up in gaffa tape and then cutting me out. I taped up the back and then stuffed it with newspapers. I used an old tanktop instead of taping the bottom part and after a little work and extra tape.... I have a dressform. Certainly not as nice as other dressforms I've seen here but I think for my basic sewing projects, it should work until I can buy a real one.

On to the (horrible) pictures.

My "girls" look funny. But I think I fixed that after my boyfriend cut the tape off of me...

I think it will work. It fits my clothes nicely so I guess we'll just have to sew something to see...

Any opinions or comments?

10  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / trying something new and now I'm stuck. Appreciate some advice please! on: March 26, 2008 04:21:06 PM
Maybe I'm in way over my head. I wanted to try something completely different than what I usually end up painting and this is what I came up with so far... and I'm seriously considering the idea of just painting over and going back to my usual style.

I took a decent sized canvas (40x50cm), painted it black and then took some funky, spring colored napkins. I ended up with this....

I know the edges are rough around the napkins and the glue is very visible so my plan is to retouch the black and add a white border around the circles.

But is that enough? I'm at a loss here and I'm not happy with what I have so far. Here's a closeup picture with the actual colors.

ANYONE have ANY ideas? Should I keep going or start over?
