1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Re: Motherload of beaded goodness - NECKLACES ;) on: September 09, 2011 11:35:51 AM
The first one is one very long black, white and silver necklace, so you have to double it up around your neck. I took a bunch of different beads (glass, plastic, metal, wood - big and small) and tried to mix it up while still sticking to one colour scheme.

I like beads. And I like necklaces. You like? Don't? Comments? Questions? Yes? No? Good? Bad?

Thanks for your replies! The necklace is REALLY long on that kid - she's only nine and is very small. I don't know what the terms are in English for what I used .... maybe a crimp clasp thingy ( Huh ) and then a jump ring attaching it to the chain.

After I made the necklace, I had to order more feathers - the kids loved them and we all went crazy with feather earrings and necklaces  Tongue

I love owls!! And this necklace looks great! How big is the owl piece? Is it heavy to wear?

I will definitely look into that - thank you so much for your advice! That's why I love craftster so much, people are nice to give feedback and ideas to a newbie like me.

But please don't think that I'm claiming these necklace ideas to be unique - as I wrote in my original post, I know this kind of rubber work has been done many times before and I would never say it's my own design, when it's not.

Happy Monday to you all!

It's super easy. Find some elastic at the hobby store - here in DK, it's in the jewelry section and you can find it in different sizes. I like the size 0.8 mm. It doesn't easily snap like the 0.5 mm elastic does but it's not as thick and sometime unhandy with smaller beads like the 1 mm elastic is. But of course, it depends on what beads you are using.

But just string the beads on, and then tie a good knot. Be careful that you don't stretch the elastic too much when doing so, or else it can snap when you take the bracelets on and off.

Thanks for the link - I'll definitely take a look at it and see if it's possible to find here in DK. We should have something similiar at the local craft store.

Thanks for your positive replies!  Grin

I've now worn the necklace both to work and out to a party - two very different evenings with very different outfits. The only thing that I can't wear it with, is low-cut cleavage showing shirts.... the shorter chains fall funny into my cleavage  Tongue
