21  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: July 2006 Birthday Swap GALLERY!! on: August 02, 2006 09:54:34 PM

I recieved an adorable travel sewing kit today from mishmish.  It is a little pouch in green with pink polka dots  (my favoriet color combo) with the contrasting fabric as the lining.  It is the perfect size ti fit in my purse for all my sewing on the go needs.  I think I'll bring it to work tommorow.

I am not able to post pictures at the moment, but should be able tommorow or Friday.  Go ahead and post pictures if you took some before you sent it mishmish.  ( I alwasy forget to do that  Cheesy)

Is that an ultrasound picture mixed in with your quilt blocks?  Are you planning a baby quilt?Huh?

Wow Kristyd, that quilt is so cute.  I love the idea of mixing the applique blocks and the squares.  I wish there was going to be a new baby in my life because I would try to make something similiar.  Great job!

Ashestoashes sent me the best birthday package ever.  She made me an awesome mixed CD, which I am looking forward to listening too.  I have listened to the first few songs already and it is great.  She also made me some notecards with Jane Austen Quotes.  They are beauifully made.  And finally a tiny crab stuffie (for cancer) which is just about the cutiest thing I have ever seen!!!!!  She said the pattern was from a Japanese book, and it is adorable.  Here are some pictures, I tried to take a picture of the playlist, but it turned out blurry.

Thank you so much ashestoashes, this was the best birthday gift ever!!!!!

Charliebrown-I love the Block you sent me.  I just got it yesterday.  Unfortunately I am housesitting and didn't have time when I was home to take a picture of it, so if you could post a picture it would be great.  I see you have been practicing applique.  Great job, it is very interesting.

I am a little slow getting my blocks done, it has been crazy at work, and I am house sitting so don't have all my sewing stuff with me.  I was so exhausted last night that I couldn't even think of packing up my fabric, sewing maching etc.  I am planning on sending on Sat.

Stephen Weaver, I'm glad that my squares got to you!  Sorry about sending the white ones, but I am glad that all the green in going to work out for you.  I was feeling bad I didn't send you more variety.

squeakyweasels, the pattern was great.  I wore it to work yesterday and everyone was really impressed!  And it was really fun to knit!
28  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: Quilt Block of the Month Craftalong on: July 10, 2006 09:10:20 PM

I have finally started to get caught up on this craftalong.  And again, once I have time for it, I rediscober my love of quilting (at least the piecing part of it.)  I am nearly finished with mata's star block, it ended up being about 12 inches, so I need to add a border.  I also finished the Wyoming Valley block.....this was honestly my least favorite block of them, but while I was looking through my fabric, I came across this FQ bundle I bought on clearance that seemed perfect for this block.  I am going to try to work on the birdhouses next, but I just don't seem to have the right fabric for it.

Whew!  I finally finished this!  I feel like it took me forever, not that it was that much knitting, just I have had no time to work on it.  So this was knit (aside from about 1 hr at SnB) completely while commuting on the "el" to work.  I loved the pattern, squeakyweasels, great job in writing it up.  I knit it up using bamboo yarn, which is a first for me.  I LOVE the color and the drape, but the yarn is a little delicate, so I am afraid that I am 1 snag away from a unraveled sweater.......I couldn't get a good picture, in real lfe, you can see the DNA cable up the front.  While I was working on it I showed it to someone at work, and she looked at it a moment and said "Is that a double helix?"

I finished cutting up my squares yesterday and will get them in the mail tommorow.

I have recieved from angelofmusic, Ezri_B, CharlieBrown and kitty1256.  I was thinking about waiting till I recieve from everyone and then start sew them together so I can mix them all up.  I'd love to do another one, I didn't get rid of nearly enough fabric as I had hoped and cutting these little squares was suprisingly quick.

Off to check kitty1256's squares in the gallery.
