1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Rescued & Recovered Glittery Desk Chair on: July 04, 2011 11:33:33 PM
My friends found this chair on the side of the road and I volunteered to fix it up. We didn't want to spend any money on it, so I used metal flake vinyl from my stash. It was purchased as remnants, I didn't have enough to do it in one or even two colors, so I went ahead and did it in three!

And a closeup of the seat:

I do not enjoy sewing curves with glitter vinyl. It would have been way more of a headache if I didn't have my Teflon foot. I'm not thrilled with my work, I've done way better with non-vinyl, but it was a good learning experience.
Thanks for looking!
2  UNITED STATES / Tennessee / Best Fabric shops in Nashville? on: March 29, 2011 11:36:51 AM
Nashville is my closest major city, and I'm thinking about taking a trip up to buy some fabric. I'm looking for some recommendations.

I'm interested in anything that's not a chain- I'm specifically looking for Moda, Alexander Henry, Michael Miller, and clothing fabrics. Modern rather than traditional.

Thank you!
3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Rhinestoned Ukulele on: February 28, 2011 02:33:26 PM
I love gluing rhinestones to things. It started with lighters, and it's gotten bigger as it goes on. Recently I finished this Ukulele:

4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / d20 Pillow for the manfriend on: February 18, 2011 01:15:13 PM
I was at a loss for what to make him for our first Valentine's day, until he mentioned wanting more couch pillows.

He is regular player of Dungeons & Dragons, so I thought I could combine this love with his desire for couch comfort, and viola!

I borrowed a D20 from one of his friends and swore him to secrecy, that I might place the numbers accurately. One more to show that it is indeed accurate:

He loved it and brought it to his next game to show his friends. Cheesy
5  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Wonderland Jelly Roll & Charm Pack Quilt and Pillow on: February 13, 2011 05:59:33 PM
Finally finished a quilt today, I started piecing it about a year ago.

The back is the collection's awesome giant focus fabric:

And one with the pillow, in situ

Yay!
6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / random baby quilt on: December 13, 2010 11:56:38 PM
I made this a few months ago for a dear friend's newborn. The backing and white fabric are organic, and I used the organic cotton and bamboo batting, but I wanted to use some fun things too. All told, there are 22 different fabrics- although the pics don't show the different bindings.

I embroidered the baby's name in english and hebrew, her astrological sign, and the latitude and longitude of her birthplace.

7  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Dia de los Muertas Kitchen Curtains! on: February 11, 2007 09:43:58 PM
I made these curtains to brighten up my kitchen and tie together my green dishes and the baby blue paint. They're not so yellow in real life, they're lime green. http://a799.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/38/m_9fd65118a5b9013cdce71577cc48d556.jpg

There are placemats made of the larger-print skulls with a black background, but I don't have pictures yet.

This wallhanging serves to cover up the ancient fan that does not work and is, in fact, open to the outside. I covered the fan and tried to seal it off, but the plastic I used made a lot of noise. The wallhanging is backed with several layers of batting and now I only hear the plastic in heavy winds.

this concludes my dia de los kitchen...
