for my physics class we had to make kaleidoscopes. and moi, being as crafty as i am, decided to go all out and make my kaleidoscope the yellow submarine. cause kaleidoscopes are kinda trippy and so is the yellow submarine.

we got extra credit if we could figure out how to make the beads move separately than the rest of the kaleidoscope, so the nose of the submarine twists.
my friend maggie helped me make it. we found this picture online and used it as a reference.

so i wanted to be a pirate for halloween and what does every lady pirate need? a leather corset!! but then, as i was making it, i realized that it didnt really want to be for a pirate. this corset screamed hippie.

for this corset i started with a leather/suede jacket i had.
it looked very much like this one but was dark brown:


so i cut it up, and used simplicity 5006 altering it so the corset would be an underbust. its purposefully sloppy, cause when i started out, i figured what pirate goes through the trouble of making their clothes perfect? they're too busy pillaging to be OCD about sewing.

and voila!







its got 3 mother of pearl snaps on the back to close it.

the last two are it with my costume. its a peasant skirt and a green top. i plan on wearing the flower headband i made a couple months ago too. this is my post for the headband:

MAKE A HOMECOMING DRESS!!!! whooo yay



I actually started this a couple of weeks ago but that was just to sew the strips of fabric together


I hate how i don't own a serger, all my seams are crappy and already fraying. I double stitched most seams for extra reinforcement as my dress frays while I dance in it
I designed the dress myself, and used a sleep shirt pattern that I altered as I went along. The dress was originally supposed to have sleeves, but I like it how it is now.
The dress is a light rose colored satin and the black parts are satin also. It has a split at the bottom and there's a zipper down the front so it can be risque if i want    I really like how this dress turned out and as a senior this year I wanted to wear something unique for my last homecoming

So i'm not really sure if this is considered jewelry or trinkets but if i was feeling really rebellious i guess i could wear the headband as a necklace? if this isn't the correct category then feel free to move it =]

anyways, i found this image online and absolutely fell in love with the flower headband the girl is wearing. i'd say its kinda hippie meets super girly cause who else would wear a giant flower on their head? lol



i have a huge old pink sheet i've slowly been cutting up for various projects and once i saw this i realized the sheet was about the same color. i estimated on the size of the petals and made a paper stencil. the beads in the center are from an old broken necklace and the band is that suede string you can buy at craft stores.





my cat Charlie decided the suede band was a perfect toy and just had the get in the these pictures

i made this jacket last year in my sewing class. its red linen with this thick satin-y black lining. i love it but unfortunately it turned out really formal compared to how i imagined it and as i have no formal events to attend, it sits in my closet. the pattern was vogue something. i can't find it on the website anymore though so i dont know the number.

i used the school's embroidery machine to add flowers to the cuffs.


the buttons are my favorite part cause i think they're so pretty.

so yesterday i failed my ham radio test and went to lurk around craftster to feel better. i saw wibit's dog http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=239403.0 and felt like maybe i should finally make and post something. then i saw that it was crocheted. i've never been able to master crocheting so i just sat down and tried to knit a dog using her tutorial. the final product didn't turn out how i envisioned but it looks pretty good. it reminds me of my old dog when she was a puppy.
