last year i made it up to orang (ish) before i pooped out. This year month 1 and I forgot to photo my rainbow.  But here are some red things I made for a swap.

a wool felt brooch

and

a lunch tote -  I used two fabrics (gingham for the lining) ... fused together and then that iron on plastic coating ... hoping to get an oilcloth effect.  With all the layers it came out very stiff ... seems to work better (in terms of retaining fabric like flexibility) if you only plastic coat one side.

I was really hoping to get at least one thing done for each color of the month but I fell off the color crafting wagon 2 months ago ... just never came up with an orange craft and then well ... i could seem to get back on. I actually did make a brown craft but didn't post it so here it is (Hope the craft-a-long police don't mind  Grin) along with my nearly completed blue craft and my resolve to get back in gear

A padfolio - with embroidered button and embellishment

Years ago, I bought a pair of really neat deco chairs ...one red and one blue, they had their original upholstery ... wool mohair velvet and were in decent shape, but the years took their toll as is obvious here

so... I enrolled in an upholstery class and have a new appreciation for the skill ... Months later I am nearlly finished.  I couldn't afford to recreate the original so I decide to take some liberties.
Here are the after pictures:

Even though I love it, I bought way too much of this fabric.  It's sort of  a canvas weight and makes me smile to work with it. It's much brighter and crisper looking in real life (without the bright sun shining through)    . I made this tabbed curtain for a friend, a shower curtain for me, and a few totes.

Here's the first of a few pink crafts I hope to complete this month. This might qualify as the oldest UFO. When I was in jr hi (about 100 years ago) I bought at pattern for a Twirly skirt but somehow never got around to making it.  Lately I'd been envisioning a similar effect as the skirt section of a girls dress ....and voila. (now I'm actually thinking about revisiting that skirt for myself ... though an extra panel or two may be in order.)

Anyway ... the bodice is cut from vintage pink chenille, and I love the near photo quality of the rose print. Oh ... the second picture shows the ribbon hair bow I made to go with.

I made two pincushions for a flickr group swap: a large one and a "bottlecap" one.

Large

I knew this would be a tough month for me ... I work with fiber of all kinds, paint, glass ... but never metallic. But here it is ... so far it's a chain, I'm still deciding if it's gonna be a necklace or one of those librarian-like glasses chain (if the spectacles fit....).  I like how it came out but probably not enough to actually want to keep it ...whaddya think.
